The Cavaliers would use the picks to select Duke point guard Kyrie Irving and Arizona forward Derrick Williams, the sources said. In the trade being discussed, Cleveland would absorb Detroit's Richard Hamilton into the $14.6 million trade exception it received in last summer's LeBron James sign-and-trade with Miami, while also receiving the Pistons' No. 8 pick. The Cavaliers would then send that pick, along with their fourth pick, to Minnesota for the Timberwolves' second pick. Cleveland would then buy Hamilton out of the $25 million remaining in the last two years on his contract, leaving the veteran shooting guard free to sign with another club as a free agent. Chicago would be one of the likeliest destinations.
only drawback of this is that i don't see Irving as the type of can't-miss prospect that Derrick Rose and John Wall were. and Derrick Williams wasn't at the Durant/Griffin level of dominance as a college forward...so picking 1+2 is not as fantastic in this draft as it may have been in other years, IMHO

Still a big influx of talent for a team that has none of it.

I agree. That scenario seems wacky. In this year's weak draft a #1 pick is risky, as you say; going 1-2 just seems insane. The Cavs need talent and leadership: to bring in a rookie PG who barely played college ball and a (better NBA prospect, imo) SF who played in the weak Pac-10 (but great in the NCAA)...I don't know. I would probably take Williams at #1 and see where the Irving/Knight/Walker/Kanter chips fall at #4, or perhaps trade #1 and #4 for #2 and a vet, etc.

I am so depressed about the Lakers' situation.

Junior Buss is a complete idiot, and this feels like a disaster. Fucking Jimbo interviewed ONE candidate! How is that responsible?

Plus:

Buss told the newspaper. "My dad loves Kobe and so do I; we think he has a lot left. And I know Mike has some ideas on how to elongate Kobe's career."
Jimbo, unless you have some new secret science sauce that will make Kobe longer and taller, it's "prolong Kobe's career" not "elongate Kobe's career"....

I keep hoping that this is a just a joke, and that Brown actually won't sign the official deal. This is worse than Rudy T.

Although I like Williams a lot, in a weak draft like this one, the Cavs should be trying to trade down to get veteran leadership.

I'm not a Mike Brown fan. I remember seeing the Brown-coached Cavs come out of a timeout in the playoffs and run a play consisting of giving the ball to LeBron and clearing out his side of the floor. REALLY????? Is this the best play Brown could come up with during the timeout? Not even a pick-and-roll for LeBron??? Yeah, the Lakers are screwed, unless Bynum starts living up to his potential. And how low can they wait for THAT to happen? Edit: Right now, I'm looking forward to the Finals. The Heat have no one who can guard Nowitzki, but the Mavs will need Marion and Terry to turn back the clock for a full seven games to throttle LeBron and D-Wade. I'm predicting Miami in seven.

Marion did a good job bullying an inexperienced, underfed Durant, but LBJ, I don't think so. It seems like Wade should have a big series. Nobody can stop Dirk, but still, Heat in 5.

Go Mavs!

Get your predictions in now! Heat in 6.

mavs in 6

heat in 7 anyone know why finals are 2-3-2 when all other postseason series are 2-2-1-1-1?
East vs West instead of east vs east or west vs west, less traveling is my best guess.

Mavs in 6??? No idea really, just hoping!!

i guess, but isnt miami to boston is father than miami to dallas

I'm not sure why the only do it in the finals, but the format alternates every other year. So next year's finals will be 2-2-1-1-1.
