And the Spurs has gone down in the first round for 3 straight years. Oh wait, you said the Spurs were going to be champs because all of the ESPN analyst ranked them #1 for the first half of the season and because they had the best record. Hmmmm.... Last I checked the Spurs have gone fishing while the Lakers are still out there gunning for the chip.

Lakers still suck. Kobe can lick my balls. Because they won't fit in his mouth.

I'm sure you guys are all excited that the Heat were the only high seed not to lose game 1, despite having the toughest matchup

Two turnovers and a foul in the last 20 seconds.

Kobe will never pass him the ball again.

Is it excessive to say that the officiating was terrible in game one of the heat-celtics series based on the calls that were rescinded today?

The pitty-pat flagrant foul called on Jermaine O'Neal was rescinded to a personal foul. Unfortunately for Boston, the flagrant call during the game resulted in two free throws for miami and possession of the ball. On the following play, Bibby hit a three. That is a 5-point swing for a flagrant foul call that the NBA decided was the wrong call.

The James Jones' hard foul on Paul Pierce was also upgraded to a flagrant foul. Had this been called during the game, that would have been two free throws for Ray Allen.

Potentially, you are talking about a seven point swing in a game that was decided by nine points.

Of course, this leads into the larger issue that Pierce was upset at being mauled by Jones and 50 seconds later was ejected for "verbal taunting." I've been watching the NBA for about 25 years now and I think that may have been the first time I've ever seen anyone ejected from a game for cursing at the opposing player. Realistically, no NBA team would have enough players to finish a game if players were given technicals for talking trash.

In the end, all you can ask for from officials is consistency. As long as the calls are consistently pitty pat or fouls are called tight on both ends, I think that's all anyone can ask for. But in this case, when you have a moving block by O'Neal called as a flagrant but Jones' arms swinging down onto Pierce's neck and head is somehow "missed," it seems like its not being called the same at both ends. In this case, the victim Pierce gets upset and curses Wade out on an ensuing foul, and he is tossed for getting upset about being flagrantly fouled with no call. Well, at least, the correct call was made two days later.

It is no wonder that nba conspiracy theorists abound when a series of poor officiating calls lead to boston's leading scorer, who with 9 minutes remaining in the 4th had already scored 17 points in the second half, is summarily ejected for potty mouth.

This series was hyped as the most eagerly anticipated conference semifinal in NBA history and this is the best officiating crew that the NBA could come up with . . .

To be fair, Kobe tripped himself up on that last play. Still, Pau is bugging me sometimes.

I won't lay blame on him though. Artest...STOPFUCKINGSHOOTING

The thing is I think Kidds foot got tangled up there with Kobes and for the most part, any trip like that is a foul. The refs also have to be consistent, if they call the push on Pau, they have to call the trip and physical play on Kidd as well. Yeah the trip was "accidental" but every trip on a screen is accidental but it is still called. Not to mention that Paus arm was bumped by Kidd and thats how the ball got loose and shouldn't that be considered a foul as well?

Lakers did give that game away but I do put some blame on Phil too keeping Kobe on the bench for 6 minutes in the quarter, too much trust in a very inconsistent bench that pretty much lost the lead for them.

What's a bigger FAIL, the Lakers last possession last night or this mural outside Staples...
