and no it's no the same thing. GS has an existing system and KD will have to fit in.

Durant's move convinces me that the league should have advocated harder to stagger the salary cap increase. Such a significant jump at once enabled such a move.

The cap has been somewhat effective in creating some level of parody in the league, this move makes GSW completely dominant. Good for them, not that good for competition as a whole.

so I wonder how many draft picks + young players the Lakers or celtics (or any team with the same) will be dangling at OKC for Westbrook.

celtics have brooklyn's 2017 and 2018 (both unprotected icon_gu_b_slayer[1].giflol8[1].gif ) 1st round, and mav's 2017 (top seven protected mwink[1].gif ) and smart, crowder, jaylen brown, bradley, ect.

lakers have ingram, russell, clarkson, randle, but no 1st round picks until 2019 eek.gif

Or Russy could just sign with the Lakers next year when he is a FA biggrin.gif

So they lose both centers. Injury prone ineffective centers who were so bad in the playoffs that Kerr was forced to play Green at center.

They also drafted a center who, by all accounts, should be an upgrade over Festis. But they keep Livingston and Iggy, who were their main bench players. they are talking to Mo, and they get Looney back from injury and have their first round pick from this year. If they hit with either of their picks they could be just as deep as last year. IF two out of three picks (counting Looney here) are good they might even be better, And they still have a few ring chasers to sign.

Who knows, maybe they can trade for Diaw.

well so dubs are looking at losing ezeli, barnes, bogut, mo, barbosa, mcadoo

dubs could keep one or two but that seems like a big gutting of the bench to me

but yeah ring chasers might sign up for a vet's min and a ring. so dubs would need a new bench, but old bench could mostly be gone.

anyways my point was KD is getting paid $27mill a year and Barnes is getting paid $24mill so depth was probably going away somewhat anyways.

could happen, but the lakers/etc might as well go for the glory right now and trade the whole house for westbrook to gain those bird rights (bird rights years are transferred through trade) so they can offer that extra year of a mega max next season.

its important for superstars to get their max contracts in this and next year, because another lockout might happen with the exploding revenue.

flip side is because BRI is split evenly between owners and players as big as these contracts are the owners are making that much more as well

Is next year the last year the caps going to make a big jump?

next two years are the major increases for salary cap. then the owners can start shenanigans and start claiming their losing money and force a lockout.

the next cba is already coming up in 2017 (both parties have option to terminate in 2017 so expect owners to claim they're losing money as soon as now) so shenanigans could start up next offseason.

Why do I feel that Durant going to the Warriors sets a bad precedent for competition.
It is like Isiah Thomas going to the Celtics after losing to them in the conference finals or MJ leaving the Bulls for the Pistons after getting beat by them in the playoffs.
