Oh, good. That should be the final piece we need to put us over the top!

Reading that LAL is looking to get Butler for Russell and their upcoming pick.

Bad. Might be a top 3 pick. I'd keep Russell and the pick

We need more players, not less

The Lakers are going to have to face the fact that without a Top 10 player it's going to be extremely difficult to win championships and there doesn't appear to be another Kobe or Shaq falling into their hands anytime soon

There's this little thing called free agency.

I don't think LA has a choice but to get rid of D'Angeslow after his video thing. Butler would be a heck of a prize, regardless of giving up the pick.

Curry out up to two weeks.

I assume that Butler is Jimmy Butler. He's pretty much a top 10 player already (somewhat debatable how you guys would rank the second tier like Wall, Lillard and Cousins). If you can get him, go for it. Unless you're convinced Russell will be far better - I actually have never seen the kid play

Not up to 2 weeks, at least 2 weeks. The Warriors can, at minimum, make the series with the Clips in the second round competitive (I think it's more likely that they beat LAC handily in 5, IMO), but they're not getting past the Western Conference Finals without him.

Sooo...lets go Spurs?

Spurs BETTER beat Lebron, and not choke again.

And winning a series, even a best-of-seven like the NBA is susceptible to flukes like an opponent's injuries or weird matchups in a way that a regular season record is not.
In any case, no one has the option to trade one for the other and I am not surprised the Warriors went all out down the stretch. Resting your best players doesn't guaranty you anything - you might miss the record and then they can still sprain an ankle in the finals.
As I was saying . . .
Sucks for GS, but that regular season record is still what it is. Could you imagine how stupid they would feel if they rested their starters to keep them healthy for the playoffs. Rest is no defense against a wet spot on the floor.

But he doesnt have to be better than butler. Him +top 3 pick has to be better than butler. Which is possible.
