NBA 2016-2017 Season Thread - Page 1451

so far first round kinda boring and not as fun as last year. let's see if it gets more exciting in the other arenas
post #21752 of 27206
Yeah last year we got spoiled with the number of overtimes and long series. And remember all the 4-point plays that appeared out of nowhere? Ah, those were the days.

And it just hit me that Josh Smith looks a lot like Method Man. They have the same type of swagger too.

Yeah, I'm really not a fan of the whole campaign, but it's everywhere in Toronto to the point that it's nauseating.

Gotta love this by a Redditor, though...

Well they did lose bosh but they got Hassan and dragic
I agree - they would have never been anywhere as good without Lebron, and the Bosh illness was devastating, but a lot of this was self inflicted. They were much more sloppy this year, particularly on defensive rotations (which is a part of the game where even an untalented team can do well with focus and effort)

The Spurs need to win tonight or things get too interesting.

Pop didn't really deserve CoY this year, but IMO he's in the running every year.

Scott Brooks fired.  Is the era of Billy Donovan about to start?

the sort of easier fix would be to fire Scott Brooks and find someone better

I mean, nothing against OKC but not making the playoffs or an early exit after all this whatever-it-is they've done would really bring about some drastic and much much needed changes to this franchise

Shoutout to Lawrence. foo.gif

In all seriousness though, this might be the final nail in the coffin for the Durant-OKC era imo. And you know Bill Simmons is going to have a field day with this news.

watched part of houston last night. thing that struck me right off was how well howard was doing on pick-and-rolls. something he refused to do in la -- he was going to be a back-to-the-basket big man, even with Nash, Pau and Kobe to pass to him. i guess we live and learn.

Scott Brooks gone, about four years too late.

Found this to be an interesting piece.

Does anyone watch college and know anything about billy Donovan? I have my reservations about a middle aged college coach who hasn't done anything for 5 years and doesn't have a rep as a tactical genius.

In other news:

The Hawks have been sold for somewhere btwn 730 and 850 million. For comparison, he notoriously undervaluing Forbes said they were worth 825 back in January. Hmm.

Dion waiters has been in the league for 3 years. His head coach has been fired at the end of each season.

Kevin Ollie reportedly still has a lot of inter st in the OKC job.

Aside from the fact that he's actually a vampire? lol

and by the way, even for someone who has always loathed rajon rondo, this was a new low. what a total douchebag. i kinda hope the lakes get him, making it a moral certainty that i will never have to support a Buss-driven team again.

Donovan and Presti are buddies. So were Jimmy Johnson and Jones.

On top of the news that Rajon Rondo is out indefinitely, Chandler Parsons is out for the season and possibly facing surgery for his right knee.

Also, more details on the Hawks sale: sold for $850 million to Antony Ressler, a Wall Street big shot who co-founded 2 private equity firms in the 90's (Apollo and Ares).
