the lakers roster is terrible, but that's my point. byron scott is an abomination of a coach. he's literally the least forward-thinking coach in the league, most of his basketball strategy is wrong, nothing he does makes sense.

im not saying they should be winning more games, because who knows? i'm saying they've missed a giant opportunity to try to establish a new coach and maybe a new system, for an entire year. instead they're wasting it on a coach who had 0% chance of working, no charm, someone the players hate, and someone basketball analysts ridicule on a nightly basis. i don't know how their fans feel about scott either, but i can't imagine they like having him as their coach.

Ok, I agree with this.

I unfortunately watched a lot of lakers this year because I had Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer on my fantasy team lol8[1].giffacepalm.gifsmile.gifffffuuuu.gif

Byron Scott may actually be under secret orders to tank. The organization is fucked if they get higher than a 5 pick in the lottery (because they lose it in a trade).

What I noticed about Scott is that he'll purposely take veteran players out if they get hot puzzled.gif so if Jeremy Lin scores like 8pts in a row and dishes out 3 nice dimes, he'll be benched for half of the next quarter, with boozer he'll do the same... boozer has actually been pretty good this year but he's been benched or will be benched if he starts actually playing good.

The Celtics are doing the contrasting thing where they actually have pretty good games and great game plans but will falter towards the end of the game. It seems like they are in every game even against championship contenders, but sheer lack of talent on the roster has them coming up short. Even Turner has actually done a pretty good Paul Pierce impression (not totally there but actually does the same kind of things).

wasnt scott kobe's choice as coach? didnt the lakers re-sign kobe to 2 year/40+ million with the expectation that he would play at a high level. this is a kobe problem through and through, no planning for the future whatsoever

Yeah like I said, this is literally the worst way to tank. Scott is in the 1st year of a 4 year contract and all his players hate him! Lin knows he's a freaking idiot. It honestly drives me crazy, and I'm not even a lakers fan. Byron Scott has been a horrendous coach for almost a decade; I give him no benefit of the doubt that he's actually purposely tanking.

Namor, that's a totally true issue, one that I probably don't want to even touch. I don't think the problems are one in the same (eg they could have hired veteran/respected Alvin gentry), but they're heavily related

Yeah, there's a bit of nepotism there stemming back to Byron Scott's days as a player for LAL back when Kobe first came into the league.

Shame for Steve. We are locked in a playoff week and Klay is his guy.

stifle tower is a great nickname.

hawks play the jingle from the office whenever mike scott scores.

also, here's a sobering and short-ish article about diana taurasi and russian women's basketball. taurasi is the 1st player to sit out the WNBA season this year completely and just play in russia. she's making 1.5M there, 110k here. she seems like an interesting woman.
