NBA 2016-2017 Season Thread - Page 1373

Well Kanter is a FA after this season as well, and he was not expected to re-sign. I suppose it's a move to play Goubert more minutes.

No they got a 1st, a 2nd, an international prospect, and cap space cuz they're buying Perkins out.

Philly has 4 1st round picks next year and 5 2nds. Plus embiid and saric coming soon

Heats tho. Might be back in contention. Did they also get zoran? So glad for dragic. Was worried heats wouldn't have enough to offer
post #20583 of 27236

But Kanter was still on his rookie deal and would have eventually hit restricted free agency, right?  I feel like they could have worked some sort of sign-and-trade with him, but looks like they got picks out of him...

Very small chance in the East I suppose. But absolutely no chance to beat the West powerhouses

Goran wade Deng bosh Whiteside lineup tho damn.

Their bench and wade's health is worrisome but that's pretty solid in the east

I think he demanded to be traded, jazz never offered anything in October, and killed sign and trade options.

How has Goran become such a superstar? He's not a such a big upgrade.

Well, the Heat were rolling out Shabazz Napier, Mario Chalmers, and Norris Cole, sooooo...

And then there's this...

Quote:

Breaking -- Suns get the Cavs 1st round pick 2016, Heat first rounder protected top 7 in 2017 and Heat 1st round pick unprotected 2021.

Long live delayed information.

The Phoenix Suns snared three first-round picks today, and John Gambadoro has the protections for each. They've basically given themselves three additional opportunities to draft more point guards.

What do you mean? goran was all NBA last year despite sharing pg duties with bledsoe and should've been an all star. Only reason he's not as good this year is cuz Suns had 5 point guards. Drastic upgrade for heats

Lol at more opportunities for PG.

Well are Suns out of playoff race now? Will okc beat Pelicans for 8th spot?

Also why waive marshall? Dude is a legit PG

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat just happened. you know what would really help, is some colored flowcharts. i can't be bothered to read hundreds of splintered disjointed paragraphs of who traded whom to whom.

Can't believe rockets got KJ for Isaiah Canaan plus a second. Philly selling for dimes on the dollar but I guess they weren't keeping him after this year

So glad Blazers got afflalo instead of chandler

I don't understand why Pistons traded for jackson or why Suns went for brandon knight. But they did get a bunch of draft picks

I also don't get why Bucks traded brandon knight for mcw. I guess he fits their defense much better and are hoping to improve his shot but brandon knight is guaranteed all star for years to come
okc got a lot better, right? but roberson is still such a 0 at 2-guard, and i don't trust brooks to manage the rotation. also, is augustin weirdly a lot worse as a bench guy than starter (kinda like reggie jackson)? i reallllly don't know how good augustin is.

yea issue w/ KJ is that he's an expiring and as a 2nd-round pick he's gonna absolutely just go where the money takes him.

i don't watch the bucks so all i know is that knight's +/- is really really bad and their bench is the biggest part of their success. also he's gonna get a giant contract this offseason.

so suns basically traded g/z-oran, it2, sky miles, and tyler ennis away and got back (in terms of actualy players) brandon knight and a bunch of crap, right? i think the it2 trade was kinda weird. why was that necessary?
they were getting brandon knight i think and didn't think it would work with IT2? suns got 3 first round picks from today

also garnett for thad young is a pretty terrible trade considering thad can actually play, but i guess wolves wanted garnett to help their young'ns. i hope gorgui learns a lot
post #20592 of 27236
man what would happen if OKC still doesn't make the playoffs? would they be forced to trade Kevin Durant? I kind of almost want to see OKC not make the playoffs and see who gets traded Kevin durant or Westbrook. the suns might not survive the trades, but who knows, it might be double EWING THEORY and they actually hold on to that last playoff spot for dear life because they play harder after losing both thomas and dragic.

the sort of easier fix would be to fire Scott Brooks and find someone better

loved this article by patrick patterson about what it feels like to be traded

i dont think firing scott brooks is an easy fix. he's bad for offense, but for better or worse he's family. durant sticks his neck out for him in media.

brooklyn won a trade!!!!!

yea i dunno why it2 would work worse w/ knight than dragic, seems like the same scenario, except knight's not already disgruntled. they only got a shitty cleveland 1st rounder and they had to take on marcus thornton so i dont get it. ...holy crap did you know marcus thornton is only 27 and is making 8.5M?? i thought he was like 33 making 4.5M.

i don't think i know how to process the value of 1st rounders. phx traded dragic and got a pile of crap plus 2 1st-rounders from miami, one of which is a totally unprotected 2021 pick. is that good??? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
