LBJ: "Everything that we do on this floor is because of this city. We owe them. We’re gonna grind for this city. They’re gonna support us, man, but we gotta give it all back to them."

Three months later.....

LBJ: "Aight, peace out!!"

cavs are running zero anything on offense tonight. maybe they'll run a pick and roll. but pretty much every possession one dude (typically waiters) will dribble the ball until there's 5 seconds left and then chuck up a shot while everybody else just stands around and looks

^ That's actually known as the "Final 3 Minutes of the Game Russell Westbrook" offense teacha.gif

at least it sometimes works and can be entertaining. watching waiters iso is not very fun. blatt should do a timeout and tell his players to actually start running plays.

I've mostly been watching games with the better NBA teams this season, but right now I'm watching the Kings/Celtics game and I can safely say there is a big difference watching the championship contenders play each other and watching 2 lesser teams play in terms of both entertainment and basketball play (although Cousins is actually really fun to watch - the camera should just be on him all game).

And put a mic on him and just broadcast everything he says live.

I actually wouldn't mind hearing a few players live in-game including Kobe and KG.

neo, wasn't it you i was telling that lbj wasn't being a massive frontrunner and just going to the best team by choosing the cavs? ^__________^

Obviously he's put it together since then, but the above player doesn't even sound like he's worthy of that 5th pick
don't think this is true. those knocks were clearly there (more or less, the kings only suspended him once) but you're vastly underrating his talent and the potential he'd shown. dude was avging 18 and 11 his 2nd year in the league. even w/ poor efficiency and bad defense it's ludicrous to say he wasn't worthy of the 5th pick of that draft. you know who was taken ahead of him right? iirc there were plenty of analysts on draft night who couldn't believe the wolves took wes johnson over him.

And Cousins just got ejected. Good timing.

i never underrated his talent or potential. in my first post on this topic i clearly said that he was an otherworldly talent. but it is absolutely true that he dropped because of attitude and work ethic concerns. i'm happy to be proved wrong, but i don't think i am.

the only other thing i said was that i understand why four teams passed on him. well, actually it was also because everyone expected John Wall and Evan Turner to go 1-2, and no one at the time was prepared to buck conventional wisdom. even the Wes Johnson you malign was a 16/8 guy, Big East POY and 1st team All American who showed maturity and leadership skills - if you're picking at the top of the draft and a fuckup probably means you're fired, these considerations do matter.

finally, Boogie was suspended twice by the Kings (Paul Westphal dismissed him from the team, then he himself got fired, then Boogie got suspended by the new management), and a couple more times by the league. plus i don't know how many ejections. i do realize you're trying to pick at the part where i said "by the Kings" so let me rephrase for accuracy's sake.

oh i forgot westphal benched him. true.

basically, i think the character concerns were legit (and yes, def the reason he dropped), but not enough to take someone like wes johnson over him. it's different if wes johnson did all that as a freshman or soph, but the guy was 23 yo by his rookie year, w/o consistent production over his college career. he didn't have anywhere close to all-star upside.
