NBA 2016-2017 Season Thread - Page 1286

damn interesting development indeed you have to wonder if he was so good why pistons couldnt get anything in return. dude needs to be in the perfect environment for him to succeed and not also hurt his team
post #19277 of 27247

Apparently the Pistons paid out their full MLE until 2020 so they could release him.

The big contract for a struggling player probably made him very difficult to trade plus it seems Detroit just wants to develop their young players now.

Really hope takes minimum and goes to the Clips.

Rockets, I'm told, are in fact-finding mode and weighing whether to make a Josh Smith run. Too early to say if they're in or out

ESPN sources say both Kings and Mavericks have interest in signing Josh Smith as a free agent if (when) he clears waivers Wednesday

Also hearing that the Los Angeles Clippers will make a run at Josh Smith, but Clips -- like Mavs -- have only minimum dollars to offer

God you bitch and moan more about Kobes being terrible this year than Laker fans just because he affects your fantasy team. Isn't there a separate thread so we don't have to see you whining every damn time Kobe has a game?

For a Kobe and Laker hater, you sure mention them more than anyone I know in this thread.

So if say rockets get him does that mean he gets paid by both the rockets and the Pistons?

Damn

I think only if he clears waivers in 48 hours, if someone picks him up while on the waivers (any team could iirc even if Smith wants to be in that team or not?) then they'd have to pay him his existing contract, which I doubt an team will do. After that 48 hours, he is considered a free agent.

Damn

Rockets would pay him the BAE and the Pistons would pay him the difference.

bae stands for what? the minimum?

Bi-Annual Exception. Not sure if that actually pertains to this situation, though. J-Smoove has to clear waivers first. Don't think that's happening if Carlos Boozer didn't even clear waivers...

i need to do some reading. so according to stretch provision, pistons can pay his 2 year contract over an extended period of time? and what if he is picked up after he clears? pistons would still pay him the entire amount or the difference between new team contract and pistons contract?

Boozer wasn't waived, he was amnestied so the teams had to make bids and the highest bid got him. So the teams only have to pay him what the bid for him and the team that amnestied him has to pay the rest of whatever he has left in his contract.

I get more annoyance points posting about Kobe's disastrous shooting here. Over there I get sympathy. Just doing my part to elicit another 4,000 word screed out of you.
