NBA 2016-2017 Season Thread - Page 1281

imo if bogut's healthy you can't say the warriors are worse than any team. their D is just so good, and their offense is so much improved. i can see a case for the grizz, spurs, and thunder being up there in the playoffs. clippers don't have the D or the depth, same w/ the rockets, and the blazers are a good team but don't have the elite talent.

yea that's true (bout crashing and burning) but it would be a big fall from their current pace. the thing about career years for them is that it's not like it's coming out of nowhere or they're just shooting fireballs at the rim. klay is still youngish, and you can see the well-rounded improvement of his game. curry hasn't gotten ridiculously better, just a bit better at rebounding and finishing at the rim (which may come down a bit). it's draymond's 3rd year so you expect lots of improvement. barnes may fall off some but he's always had the talent.

plus it's a totally different offensive system

jabari parker tore his acl, ugh.

grizzlies defense was ridiculous tonight, hounded the fuck outta curry. draymond green missed every open shot. great game.

Klay and Steph should have career years. Speights shouldn't be this good. Bogut is likely to fall off. Green and Barnes should be okay but probably won't keep this level of play up. I'm not down on the Warriors and I'm enjoying every bit of the season they are having but think it's prudent to temper enthusiasm. Things don't always (ever) work out for us Warriors fans.

When do they move to the new arena? I thought it was going to be this season?

Sorry to hear Parker gon' miss the whole season now. I guess Wiggins a lock for RotY.

They're the real deal. Their play is sustainable (it's not just a couple of guys playing out of their mind), they're deep, and they are strong in every facet of the game.

Your post made me think though, I don't think they have been successful in my entire lifetime...have they made it out of the second round in the last 30 years?

Nope. They won the championship in 75, lost the conf finals the next year and haven't been back to the conf finals since then.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a homer and think the Warriors are great this year, but I'm still objective. I thought they'd be good and finally have a real offense to go with their shooting talent and defense and before the season I figured they'd win 55 games and be a bit better than last year, but not this good.

I'm really glad they got Kerr and think he's adjusting quite well to being the head coach. Certainly helps that he has put together a great staff. It's amazing that he was choosing between coaching this team and the dumpster fire Phil Jackson is presiding over. I wonder if he was just playing NY to get a bigger offer out of Lacob.

i love the way the dubs play, too. but i wonder if they have the big guy necessary to win it all. they've certainly been riding a hot streak, but memphis showed some holes. i'm afraid they might turn out to be a phoenix or a sacramento -- really great teams to watch, stacked with talent, but lacking that rim presence that can carry you through to the championship.

warriors could always get knocked out cuz they have a high-variance offense. any O that relies on that many 3s is potentially susceptible to have an off series. but their D is great and consistent (w/ bogut) and passing a ton more this season certainly would help offensive consistency as well

Yeah, unless you got a Tim Duncan manning the posts, raining 3s isn't my preferable offense

Warriors don't take that many 3's. They're 5th in the league (25.6 attempts per game) but much closer to 15th (CLE at 22) than 1st (HOU at 34.4). Houston takes 7 more threes per game than the 2nd highest team! That's almost 25% more which is crazy.

Keeping Bogut healthy is definitely a key to defense against teams like Memphis, Houston, Clippers and Spurs.

My source for 3s per game:
