Bleacher Reports comes up with some interesting trades scenarios which could lead the Black Mamba to legitimately contend for his 6th NBA Championship.

Warriors would be insane to take that trade. lol8[1].gif

Cavs trade is terrible for the Lakers, no potential there at all.

JR Smith to the Lakers? NO THANKS!

those things are put together by bored sportswriters. they have about as much grounding in reality as me debating the pros and cons of which supermodel will become the next ms. foodguy.

I don't think any real basketball fans require an explanation, it's a clusterfuck plain and simple. Seriously, seriously clustered and seriously, seriously fucked.

True, I guess a fan knows they suck because they decided to deconstruct the team.

So we have had some stats/sabremetrics discussions before and it typically revolves around the 3 point shot. The efficiency of it, how many to take in game (all of them!!) etc but no one ever talks about free throws. When you look at the teams that are considered contenders, Clippers and Rockets for example, would probably win 5 more games a year and get that much closer to a chip if a Howard or Jordan shot better FT's. Also you do away with the Hack a whoever late game strategies. The article below takes DeAndre as an example and imagine him going from a 40% FT shooter to a 80% shooter. What does that do for their offense and record? What does that do for him (higher point average, probably bigger contract)? Its probably the easiest thing to fix in your game and these guys just absolutely refuse to to go the Rick Barry route: If I was a owner paying these salaries, it wouldn't be voluntary to work with a Rick Barry on FT's.

^ not that interesting.

Funny how we are talking about the worst team in the league all the time now. Were we discussing the Sixers last year after 9 games?

The flip side of this argument is, why aren't more advanced stat using team specifically employing a strategy of getting to the line as much as possible? Part of it may be that you cant control getting fouled too well, but it can be done. Players like Harden, Kevin Martin, early career Wade and KD, Maggette - these guys all just looked to get fouled to a varying but large degree (funny thing is, Maggette and Wade aren't great foul shooters)

So get in the paint, draw contact, and make sure you have 90% shooters. Oh, and watch your fans claw their eyes out in the stands out of frustration

Anyone wanna take some action on the Lakers with a lead in the 4th in ATL?

I get it, all the Lakers needed was Swaggy P!

His mere presence alone = instant win!

Lakers on ESPN tonight. Lots of other things happening in NBA apart from suck. But suck getting featured. Shame they never put N Orleans on national TV.

Sacramento looks to have turned the corner. They're on tomorrow night, I'm going to watch.
