he's supposedly called love already and told him he should come to cleveland.

yeah love don't be melo. just be patient and wait a year. you can have your cake and eat it too
post #17522 of 27359
they do not have the cap space next year to sign love flat out. they need his bird rights to extend him.

So let lebron restructure and make room. I mean, they have an entire year to do it. Let Kyrie restructure.

funny you mention Melo (Dolan destroyed the Knicks giving away too much talent when he did not need to). I am not saying the same thing will happen to Cleveland, as they'll have Lebron and Irving but honestly, I'm not that impressed with Love in a team concept. He is a stats machine but has never played a playoff game, never made anyone better around him. 2010/2011 Minnesota won 17 games. Melo gets all this shit for being a volume scorer, being selfish, not being a "winner" yet he took an average Denver team to the WCF. Cleveland has all the scoring it needs, James/Irving/Waiters/Wiggins/Thompson should be good 80-85 points a game. Throw in another 10-15 from Bennett/Varejao and whoever else is on the bench and your offense is more than covered. The question for them is, who is their wing defensive stopper, Lebron can't guard 5 people. Wiggins (and Waiters off the bench) provide a better fit for this team than Love.

Verajao is a decent stopper. I think everyone is underestimating Love's defense. He can rebound like hell. Lebron can force defense out of that squad, otherwise.

well i imagine they'll have to waive some players

looks like they can trade dion waiters next year but tristan thompson and varejao is a free agent.

they'll have to give up an asset or two but they won't have to give up wiggins to get love like they have to now

Mike Miller is going to rain 3s from the Cavs bench.

the issue is kyrie's contract almost doubling for 2015. i doubt he's going to restructure - the only way it would work would be lebron opting out, resigning for like 10 mil and love taking under what he's get otherwise as well. it's not gonna work. trade wiggins now. their options if they wait are either trade kyrie or hope that lebron is going to gift them with the most undervalued NBA player in history.

Why does LeBron want to continue recruiting these other All-Stars? His team is pretty good already - why give up depth in young players who have a good chance at being good-great players? I mean it's pretty much expected that they did nothing on the terrible teams (and with terrible coaches) in the past couple years. They'll probably be pretty good with the new coach and playing alongside LeBron.

Doesn't he remember that it was the Spurs's depth, not their stars, that helped the Spurs win?

i've already talked about this before

you just have to take a look at the team minnesota surrounded love with. he is actually a good passer and can make plays in the high post and he bends the defense towards him like dirk and melo

i think he's actually a great team player. you should look at highlights of him getting boards and getting the ball down court. tons of those. and his assist stats are pretty good. he's very smart and he draws double teams on the block.

How many All Stars does LBJ need to win another championship?

Not one, not two, not three....

restructuring contract is not an option in the nba. only thing that could happen is lbj opting out (which is an option in his contract) and taking less money, but he's already shown a desire to get max money, so that doesn't look likely.

admittedly it is a gamble as to whether their team works out, but i honestly don't see any average team with lebron not making 2nd round playoffs in the eastern conference
cavs arent the only bidders tho. there are reports now that warriors are willing to trade klay thompson. that could complicate things, since love may sign an extension if traded to GSW.

yeah, this. kyrie is legally not allowed to restructure. if kyrie's making, let's say, $16M, love is making >$17M, lebron is making $20.6M, wiggins is making $5M...i don't know if they're gonna be able to sign him outright.

I don't see Love, Lebron, Wiggins and Kyrie being on the same team. That's as realistic as the earlier talk of Melo joining the Miami Heat 3

The Pelicans just got Jimmer'd!!!!

I like what the Pelicans have done this offseason with no draft picks. They got Asik, they got Patric Young, not sure how he went undrafted, Jimmer and Russ Smith, who could turn into a solid backup. Add that to Davis, Holliday, Evans, and thats a nice young squad.
