^ are you guys saying that a guy scoring 18ppg efficiently and a two way player who is 23 isn't worth anywhere near 12? confused.gif
To me he is at least worth 9-10, if my team payed 12 for him I wouldn't be mad about it. Danny Green is underpaid. So is Diaw/Mills obviously.

Well, I think that $12 mil/year needs to be put in perspective. Steph Curry's current contract is 4 years, $44 mil if I'm not mistaken (I think it's backloaded, but we'll just say $11 mil/year for simplicity's sake), and he's the best player on the team. Andre Iguodala's contract is 4 years, $48 mil, but he's a higher profile player than Thompson and one of the biggest names in that year's FA class. I can't possibly see a good reason to pay Klay Thompson more than your star players. Yes, I know LeBron actually got paid less than Bosh and Wade in Miami, but they all agreed to take less money to play together, and that's not the case here.

I agree that $9-10 mil a year is reasonable for Klay, but I just don't see him taking that when some idiot GM with cap room is willing to offer him more.

Picture this: LBJ, Melo, Harden, Howard, Parsons.

That team would have the worst bench in the NBA. And maybe Raymond Felton or Mario Chalmers at PG.

Hell would freeze over first. Duncan=Loyalty>LeBron= Royalty (copped from a BILLBOARD here in SA)

More points, but he can't play defense.

Parker is still tradeable IMO.

there was so little defense being played back then compared to now. old heads love crowing about handchecking, while totally ignoring the fact that the defense rules are totally different now and def systems are way more complicated than ever. plus people actually play transition d now. no way a 3-less league would be watchable nowadays.

Danny Green would make a lot more money on another team.

lol i thought the knicks got chandler parsons...

but if anything tyson chandler's contract was actually valuable because its an expiring "almost max" deal. that means the knicks just traded away an asset that could've been used for a big trade, now they have calderon at 7+ million for three more years.

its good the knicks "shed some money" but they are still way over the salary cap anyway so there's no real financial flexibility unless you dupe another team to take on amare or bargnani's contracts (which are viewed as even worse) because chandler is still a very serviceable player at a premium position that is always overpaid.

This opens up about 8 million. And they can use Larkin and maybe the 34th pick to move up into the bottom of the first round, which they've been wanting to do. Or they can package some other trade involving Calderon. Worse case scenario, they shed salary, got much better at the point and if they are keeping Bargs this season, he is a totally different player playing without Chandler then with.

ah too bad I liked Calderon on Mavs, he was a good fit there and was solid in playoffs frown.gif

Anyway interesting move from Mavs!

Chandler was always an excellent fit in Dallas. They have never been the same inside since he left. But eek, fat Felton was an ugly pill to swallow.

if anything... the knicks just facilitated the Mavs best chance at getting carmelo.

monta, dirk, melo, chandler + rick carlisle and mark cuban is formidable.

Felton is not as bad as he looked last year and obviously he needs to keep his weight down. His issue last year was the same issue that JR Smith had, Woodson gave them too much rope and no accountability, regardless of how bad they played they lost no minutes. That is a recipe for disaster. Both players coached the right way in the right system are solid, with JR being a much more talented player on both ends. I would not be surprised to see Chandler and Felton having solid seasons next year, although I think Chandler has been hampered by injuries the last two seasons, more than he has let on, and I don't know if he'll ever play at DPOY level again.
