NBA 2016-2017 Season Thread - Page 108

I'm looking at the nuggets roster and this is almost a Lebron-level screwing. Check out this fearsome lineup: Felton Afflalo Gallinari (Chandler?) KMart Nene This might even be a worse roster than the Cavs. Could be better if they flip Felton for an asset, plug in Ty Lawson, and hit the jackpot with the draft picks...but right now -

Yup, this is the key. Of course Melo's not gonna take <max, because if he would, why the huge fuss??? There is NO way they're gonna have enough room for another max-type player (Dwight, Paul, Deron Williams). According to Hollinger, they'd have ~8 mil left when those are possibly gonna be free agents.

I've always had a soft spot for Carmelo and the Knicks are gonna be great to watch, but I don't think this move gets them near contention for the king of the East. And now that they're locked into these max contracts, they desperately need to find some good role players for relatively cheaps, which is something I certainly don't trust Isaiah to do behind the scenes.

No.

The cavs got NOTHING when LeBron left. The nuggets got 3 legitimate young starters in return, along with draft picks. If all those pieces stay, Denver could still stay in the playoff race. And Nene is probably the best true center in the west considering bynum's long layoff this season.

Again, the cavs got NOTHING.

And just to emphasize, here are the numbers for Felton, Gallo and Chandler respectively:

17.1 points, 9.0 assists, 1.8 steals

15.9 points, 4.8 rebounds

16.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.4 blocks

The Knicks got robbed.

Seriously why is it so hard to understand? those guys might not have ESPN sucking their cocks every night but they are far above average players. Legit starters in the NBA or really awesome bench guys. Add to that a bunch of picks and huge cap relief and Denver is sitting pretty. The cap releif is big as well. All those free agents coming up in the nerxt few years can;t all go to NYC or LA. Denver will have a solid core, good role players, a ton of young talent, and some serious dough to spend.

cavs comparison retarded. i don't know about 'well above average' but they can all play and denver already has guys like affalo and smith who were scoring way below their potential solely because melo was on the team. also, felton is not the starter, lawson is, really no reason to think felton will start considering he's worse in every aspect of basketball except maybe defense. he's a backup pg who managed to start like six years cause he's been on shit teams, lawson may make a few allstar teams

Going to the Nets. Pretty surprised by this trade. Didn't know he was on the outs in Utah.

this gives me reason to buy a 2013 season tix brooklyn nets package. - as long as derron signs a extension ASAP.

I think he'll end up in NY before he signs full time with NJ. I think Utah just saw the writing on the wall and got out before it turned into Carmello-gate redux.

Damn, didn't expect that DWill trade at all. He might move to NYK this summer but he better hopes theres no franchise tag in the new CBA.

I must say, the East is looking very strong in the near future.

time for ny to try to make a deal for milsap

This.

As for Knicks, Amare can't restructure, but Melo can which could free $ up for 2012. They can also trade the other Nuggets they just received.

Where did he say it?

I read a report that DWill had no idea and woke up not knowing anything was going on prior to the trade. It's weird, it seemed like they picked DWill over Jerry Sloan and then send him packing. I'm even more confused now if it was DWills fault Sloan retired and this is his punishment?

People keep forgetting about the new CBA when grading these deals. I keep reading about how the Knicks could have just traded for DW and signed Anthony, but that is not a done deal, the cap space might not be there and there are other teams in the hunt. Anyway , the Jazz just sniped everybody, no melo-drama and they got plenty of upside in return. Also nice to see management not get sucked into kissing a players ass and having terms dictated by some bitch ass diva ala LeBron.
