That's nice, but did he consult with the voice and conscience of Black America, Al Sharpton.

Can you stop with this stupid shit? Trying to turn this into some bizarre screed about people you don't like is asinine. This isn't a free speech issue, it's a story of a group of billionaire white men who got pissed that another white billionaire was stupid enough to air his views in public, imperiling all of their profits. The NBA is a money trough, and Sterling was dumb enough to piss people off, and guess what, he doesn't get to feed anymore.

Also Floyd Mayweather doesn't have enough money. Neither does Puff Daddy.

They both have investors backing him, just like Magic.

You really think that the NBA would sign off on Rick Ross, regardless of his backers, to buy a team? Although they did let Prokhorov...

If I had to bet it'll either be Magic Johnson (which is really Guggenheim Partners) or another a hedge fund billionaire.

Ya but I just read Oprah wants to buy the team. Ha ha, perfect synergy, she can show their games on her shitty network.

You mean Oprah, Larry Ellison and David Geffen. Ellison is such a douche. If Ellison is in on the bidding, though, the team could easily go for over a billion.

Other candidates include: Steve Ballmer, Henry Samueli and Patrick Soon-Shiong (who owns a stake in the Lakers)

I don't think Rick Ross, Diddy or Mayweather will get it but who really knows?

Jay Z provided a good image and help the Nets get more popular even he owned like 0.0005 of the team, I guess you can say he is on a different level as Rick Ross and Mayweather? He and Diddy are about the same, considered "moguls"? At the end of the day though, they are just the facade of the investors, a name that many are aware of.

I'd rather have Frankie Muniz own the Clips instead of Ross (and I actually liked Mastermind)

JZ's image is too NYC.

All these name drops must have Sterling going nuts, reminds me of that scene from Trading Places.

Billy Crystal should get the team - at least he's a true fan

idfnl I don't think you actually know how to read. is he always like this? goddamn.

if the team gets sold -- and i think it might well -- i'd put my money on magic and his team. he's been angling for a shot at the lakers, and this would be 1A. he's got serious money behind him and, of course, a great track record.

I think Larry Ellison should just roll in and bid $2bil. Why not? Why would he give a shit?

My money is on Sterling transferring ownership to his son before any vote takes place.

This might also be a good opportunity for Silver to right his predecessor's wrong and put an NBA team back in Seattle devil.gif
