Harrison Barnes

My moneys on Paul George or John Wall

George did Carters ASG dunk in-game for gods sake!

man it would've been nice to have a big man like Miles Plumlee in the dunk contest too.

^no joke he has like a 34.0" standing vertical and a 40.5"+ max vertical. and he's a 7 footer too (well 6.10.5" without shoes but then again dwight howard is 6'9" without shoes).

here are amare/howard/griffin's stats: http://www.clipsnation.com/2009/6/3/897679/blake-griffin-at-the-combine

(the raw numbers are surprising even a little low considering those guy's dunking prowess... griffin has a 32" standing vert and a 35.5" max vert... pretty much the same as dwight and amare... its just that they are so much more coordinated).

i've had plumlee on my fantasy team, and I'm ashamed to admit I didn't even know he was white ( i picked him up for extra rebounding) and finally got to see him on TV and was surprised at his athletic ability. He's kind of like deAndre Jordan... all hops and little game IQ.

Those clips don't make him look all that impressive tbh. And Dwight Howard ruined the dunk contest as far as I'm concerned. Not just because big men dunking is not all that cool, but also because of all those fucking props

I really, really do not want to see a 7 foot plus player doing a slam dunk competition ever again.

dwight howard was an awesome dunk champion. its just that he later revealed himself to be a wishy washy tampon that everyone hated. his past dunk prowess was retroactively looked down upon as a result of it.

no, he was terrible. the sticker and the superman cape were stupid then, and opened the floodgates to dudes driving cars onto the court and pulling irritated retired players onto the floor

he also took off too far and never actually dunked his last dunk. the fact that the judges still gave him a 50 because of the stupid cape basically made the dunk show a prop show and not really about the dunks anymore.

doesn't blake griffin basically thrown down "dunks" like howard on the superman dunk (without touching the rim). everyone seems to cream their pants when blake does it

props are fine. if paul george is pulling reverse 360º windmills in-game then the only logical progression is props to make things more interesting.

i didn't even know nate robinson tore his ACL... thats sad... he's listed as 5'9" but is probably even shorter in reality. its kind of amazing what he could do.

tall guys can be awesome in the dunk contest:

I didn't like Blake's performance in the dunk contest either. That Kia dunk was the single worst spectacle in ASG history, and that's saying a lot. But i do remember a couple of legitimately jaw dropping dunks in the earlier rounds

i think the point of the dunk contest (at least in the past like the 80's) was to just have a great show. Winners and losers are moot points, so you try to pull off something special. sure sometimes the best dunk is also the guy who wins, but other times its not. Like that shawn kemp dunk (it wasn't even a perfect score), dee brown ended up winning because he was the smallest competitor and his last dunk was "blind".

shit happens in the 3pt contest too... sometimes a guy will score 20+ in the first round then falter in the later rounds. its like the HR derby, its fun to watch huge bombs... who wins doesn't really matter.

I forgot how skinny Kemp was in his prime.
