Lakers minus Kobe playing out of their minds.

Don't jinx it! If the Spurs win, Steve will come out of hiding again and brag that San Antonio will finally 3-peat with this deep team.

http://espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/miamiheat/story/_/id/7801502/nba-olympians-compensated

MIAMI -- Count two-time Olympian and Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade among those who believe NBA players should be paid for playing with Team USA in the London Olympics.

Wade, the leading scorer on the 2008 national team that won a gold medal in China, said he agreed with Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen that players should be compensated for their time participating in the Summer Games.

Really surprised about Ray Allens comment. On Wade, not so much.

meh, I'm not surprised and probably lean toward them getting compensated.

Who gets the money from the jersey sales? Does it go to the NBA or to like some general pool to support the athletes?

asking for money for the olympics is an asshole move, but in soccer world cup bonuses from countries (even the USA) are huge: http://sports.yahoo.com/soccer/blog...cord-20-million-bonus-for-winn?urn=sow,245513

the pool of players got something like a million just for qualifying for the world cup in 2010.

the olympics is basically the biggest stage for world basketball.

just to turn the tables a bit... but think about how the NCAA/colleges rapes the players with the billions they earn from college football and college basketball and the players don't really get ****. the olympics has become a huge money billion dollar cash cow that still has the lame guise of being an amateur athletic event. sales of USA olympic jerseys/shoes and apparel alone is huge.

oh yeah that reminds me... i bought these babies back in the day:

air-jordan-7-vii-olympic-love-of-game-02.jpg

I mowed tons of lawns and saved up to buy them that summer in 8th grade. Then I made varsity baseball (div 1A *****!) as a freshman and rookie hazing had me being thrown off a 20 foot bridge into a salt water river - fully clothed and wearing my brand new Jordan Olympic shoes.

:fu:

Some upper classmen were pissed that an incoming freshman made varsity.

USA jersey sales? Part of it probably go to the Olympics committee but none for the players. But really these used to be college players and those guys were not, and never expected, to be compensated. The thing is being in the Olympics is optional, it isn't required. If these egotistical idiots doesn't want to go, I am sure there are others who are dying to take their spots. So **** these guys, let those who want a gold medal go let these overpaid athletes have their summer break.

But these guys makes millions already, these guys aren't struggling to work at Home Depot like Delonte West. These guys are/were the top paid players in the league. Still a ****** move if you ask me.
