That's the best they can get for Bledsoe? After all that hype? Redick has become a pretty nice player but one dimensional. Although in fairness his perimeter game does fit the Clips. But now they're even worse defensively if he starts

I don't think they are worse defensively, he is replacing Willie Green/Billups in the line-up, Green isn't really the best defender and Billups was very limited with his injury so they could really only get better at this point.

Plus Doc is a defensive coach so they will get much, much better next year. Dudley is a better defender than Butler too.

I agree that they could probably get more for Bledsoe but I think they might considering the cap, especially if they plan to sign more player? I think they should resign Barnes and/or Odom. Odom was getting into shape, if he keeps it up this summer and be ready for next season, he can really contribute. Barnes was really good in his role last year too, good compliment with Crawford I think.

^ I thought that this trade was basically replacing Caron Butler with Redick at one of the wing spots...but you would know the Clips rotation better than i

Nah, Reddick is a true SG while Butler is an SF. Dudley is also an SG but a taller SG that can guard SFs, which I think will be his position until we see who else they get.

maybe Donald Sterling wanted more caucasians on the team?

man, the more i think about this, the more i think the Clippers fucked this up. they had someone who's supposedly capable of being a top 10 PG when he reaches his prime, but also tradeable because they have the top PG...and they flip him for two nice role players that have already hit their ceiling?? their lineup doesn't really look like a huge upgrade, and you've got to get interesting talent back if you're giving up Bledsoe.

well, at least they resigned Paul and averted a disaster, and got MUCH better on the coaching front. but i don't like this trade at all. Phoenix, on the other hand, seems to have scored big if Bledsoe's worth the hype

man if the clippers could've flipped Jordan and bledsoe for doc, Pierce and Garnette. They tried to milk the deal and pretend they had leverage and it went public and stern threw a wet blanket on it like an angry Dad pissed at his kids to prove a point - but they're still a legitimate big man short. They'll compete for the chip but the team looks like its still missing a piece.

the blake for howard swap doesn't make as much sense without a garnette anchoring the front line, its too risky of a move for the clips to try now - especially if howard flakes out about having death threats and hate from laker fans/media.

I think Doc has bigger plans. I still think Reddick and Dudley is a good upgrade and I am a big fan of Bledsoe. Reddick was a beast in Orlando when everyone went down so he is capable of scoring, Dudley provides that good range and stretches the floor. Bledsoe is still pretty raw as a player, when CP3 was down, he didn't really shine like Collison or Vazquez did in New Orleans.

The thing with Phoenix is, Bledsoe will still comes off the bench, Dragic will start so even in Phoenix he is a second string PG. I would have preferred he go to a team where he could start so he can shine, but I guess that shows where some teams view Bledsoe as? Still a prospect?

So far, the Clips got these guys on contract for next year.

Clips starting:
CP3
Reddick
Dudley
Griffin
Jordan

Bench:
Billups
Crawford
Green
Wayns
Summer

That isn't really that deep so they do not look as formidable but I am confident more will come. They did manage to get Odom, Barnes, Hill, Turiaf, Hollins, etc... for cheap and with Doc as the coach and CP3 & Griffins long term contracts, it should be easier to attract better players for a cheaper price this year. We'll see how it all goes but I think that is a very solid starting point.

This gets filed in the not sure if serious category.

still solid, don't get me wrong, and still a top West team, but they didn't move forward as much as i thought they could. with the exception of getting Doc, which i agree is a big step forward. but now the bench looks terrible - one of the things i enjoyed about the Clippers is that they could sit their entire starting 5 and the bench guys had enough talent to start a run. right now, only Crawford looks like he has any value of that group.

IMO clips made a big mistake not getting Barnes signed. Guy was solid as shit all season, even though he's older and never built a big reputation. Now he's had an efficient season and will get paid. Perfect guy for Pop's system, IMO.

SA needs to make a deal quick. Manu won't help them anymore.

^its a great trade for the clips.

but i just keep on thinking the proposed celtics clippers trade (involving garnette, pierce and doc) is like when you're bargaining at a garage sale with a guy and things start to get chippy and then the wet blanket wife comes over and nixes the better swap because she just feels like being a bitch.

Odom, Barnes and Hill are all gone not due to the trade so that is of a different story.

Reddick and Dudley can easily match Butler and Green/Billups production in the starting line-up, that is actually an upgrade just because of the injuries with Butler & Billups. Heck Butler barely got to play the 4th quarters last year (not his fault) and still got hurt.

Cant deny that they lose that energy and talent that Bledsoe provides but id wait til all the moves are done before fully judging the team. So far, that trade looks like an upgrade. Really will be hard to tell because VDNs lineup were very confusing last year.

stern did it to the Lakers a few years ago, its the Clippers turn I guess. lol8[1].gif

And they can still sign Barnes, doubt he'll get paid that much more, he did the same thing in Orlando and even went head to head with Kobe in the finals and his value didn't really go up that much. I think his wife has a say in where he signs and probably accustomed to the LA lifetyle.
