NBA 2016-2017 Season Thread - Page 80

Brothersport, let's talk about lebronze your idol BS hasn't been exactly known to be logical.
Let me double check the logic here.

Kobe knows he's the best to take the shot, his coach thinks he's the best to take the shot, the opposition thinks he's the best to take the shot.

Soooo, Kobe isn't the best to take the shot BECAUSE everyone that matters agrees he's the best to take the shot?
if everything is on the line, i want my best player shooting the ball. that is the bottom line. i wouldn't even care if he was double teamed, because IMO if your best player takes the shot, you can live with the result even if they miss. i remember a laker game last season where phil drew up a play for pau to get a 3 pointer. he was wide open, and promptly bricked the ball. i was at home going WTF WTF WTF. why the fuck would pau shoot the ball? i don't care the he was wide open, i want my best player to win it or lose it for my team, and even if there's 2 or 3 or 4 defenders on him i can live with that result.

A good day for the Spurs. Both the Lakers and the Celtics go down.

HOWEVER, SA always seem to have problems with the Rockets, especially at home.

LOL. KG's calling you out, Kobe. maybe you should write "rings: 5-1" on your own sneakers

Is it possible to get a .gif put onto your sneaks....cause Kobe should use this one.

In the immortal words of Jet "lakers baby lakers"

let's see who gets the other to STFU. it's starting in a moment... exciting Heat-Thunder game that just ended. KD missed a short jumper to tie with 20 seconds to go. shocked because i really expect him to hit everything HUGE brain fart by Wade in the ensuing rebound play. instead of dunking on the breakaway to put them up by four, he stops and waits to get fouled. oh wait, Dwyane, you're a shitty free throw shooter!! the Heat were lucky that the Thunder didn't get the rebound and a chance to shoot a 3
post #1193 of 27206
great game for some reason I just don't like OKC. found that out when i was low key rooting for the heat
post #1194 of 27206
Watched the 2nd half of MIA-OKC and the 1st half of BOS-LA:

1. Kobe was straight up doing work in the 2nd Q. I don't think anybody comes close to being able to weave through a halfcourt D like he can.
2. Good to see KG get that karmic retribution after that blatant dick-tap to Channing Frye the other night. WTF was that??????
3. I know that the numbers say that Wade + LBJ on the floor at the same time as gotten a lot better as the season has progressed, and you can tell they're not actively detracting from each other anymore. But they just don't play inspiring basketball together, outside of fast breaks, which just don't happen enough. MIA just isn't really fun to watch.

I dunno what this means, but w/e.

So you won't take Kobe because he'd shoot the shot for sure? Ok, now show me stats of the rate of success of Lebron, Dirk, etc... of their clutch assist.

You also have to take everything else into account. Is there someone open in all these Kobe shots? What if they played him one on one? Is he being double teamed all the time? If so, are the open players who can shoot? Are they losing by 3 and everyone behind the line is covered? You wouldn't pass it to someone inside the paint. Did Phil Jackson draw a play for Iso? Did he draw up a play that opens up others and did it work on the defending team? Does Kobe have a good look in the basket? I want to see a stat or data where he had the chance to pass it to an open player for the win but refused to do so. Kobe has been famous for these clutch shots and teams have to decide whether to guard him one on one or double him and even when they double him, most of his teammates just stand there because their used to it or that is what the coach wanted. You can't pass the ball just for the sake of passing the ball. Again, get further into the stats and show me data where he literally shot the ball and missed while another player is wide open and it has to be considered a bad decision because if he had to choose a fade away shot over passing to a Bynum who has to shoot 20 feet from the basket, I'll take the fade away any day.

It's not as simple as "Lebron has passed it and Mo made the ball in clutch" so he has more chance of passing the ball. Again, this is where numbers won't show you reasons why these things occur.
I'll always answer you since you at least try to reason out what I'm saying. Not that it's not fun to talk to the other LA fans lol. But the "you have to take everything else into account" doesn't work cuz uh that's the law of averages. Are you saying that over 100+ attempts, Kobe has somehow been consistently been in more situations where he has to force the ball? If anything, everyone knows he's gonna shoot it and there's basically no way he's not getting double-teamed.

And come on, you know Phil either isn't drawing a play up or Kobe is just flat-out not listening to a play. Please don't call me a Kobe hater for that obvious truth.

I just don't really know what to say, other than what Henry Abbott said: LA has the BEST offensive rating in the game over 48 min over Kobe's career, but the 11th best in crunch time. Doesn't that take everything into account? Or it becomes "STATHEADS CAN'T JUST CLAIM THAT; IT DOESN'T TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE SITUATION." Uh, yeah it does. That's kind of the point of the rating.

Also, why would Bynum ever be 20' from the basket w/ one possession?? Dude's not Robert Horry.

This is retarded. What about the two games where Tim Duncan hit killer 3's to tie the game? What about DEREK FUCKING FISHER'S 0.4 SHOT? What about the career of Robert Big Shot Rob? What about Phil Jackson drawing up a play for Toni Kukoc instead of Pippen that worked PERFECTLY to win the game? Have you ever heard of Paxson or Kerr????

I understand your viewpoint. But your viewpoint is why 79% of GMs take the easy way out (yes, it's the easy way out since you will never get criticized for having Kobe shoot the ball). While that isn't a bad decision at all, it's far from the optimal one.

Ugh. I just spent more time than I would have liked looking up Kobe Bryant misses. This is pissing me off mainly because it's forcing me to lessen the accomplishments of someone who is clearly (something I've never disputed) one of the couple best players in the league. He's one of the top 5 or so players of all time and Thebron honestly only has a slim chance of passing him legacy-wise. Statistically, should have passed to an open Fisher for a chance to win the game Gasol and Fisher are both open while Bryant takes a terrible shot. Drives into and takes an absurdly difficult shot. rookie, Just for you, jet: http://twitter.com/#!/JohnKrolik/sta...11570708762624http://twitter.com/#!/JohnKrolik/sta...12276714979328For you, rfx: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/trueho...nclutch-101222The point is this: if I had to choose one dude to make a ridiculously tough clutch shot at the end of the game, I would choose Kobe. He would make it more than probably anyone else in the league. But Kobe's TEAM does not do better than any other TEAM in the league at endgame, and that is because Kobe is not BAD in the clutch, but not anywhere near his superlative self. He's average. That really hard to figure out? @marcy's playground: okay good job, we should never ever rethink what we think we know as a society. You're like the evil coach on the evil team in glory road. you dick.

its great that the C's didn't lose two in a row. especially with the heat and their big win. regular season means more this year. think about the spurs having home court all the way through.
Celtics baby, Celtics.

Straight up, great win for them today.
The Celts are getting less and less and less and less tolerable. At least last year they had the decency to suck terribly in the regular season.
