Of course not.

Why ever would we keep them otherwise?

Then your vaunted Lakers would get the awards for prettiest uniforms, and everyone would get trophies, just like in Little League!

You're absolutely right..fantasy tells the whole story. Therefore you can not argue with me when I say that Al Horford is a better big man than Tim Duncan. It's a fact. No arguing. Look at the numbers, no disputing! Ladies and gentlemen of SF I present to you the GOAT:

You play fantasy. Check the ratings. Yahoo compiles statistics much better than you or I ever could. Manu's in the top 10 in both of my leagues. Kobe's 21 in ours and 28 in the other.

In fact, I drafted Kobe him in our league to amuse/annoy you and to be a Top 10 player. He's stinking out my team. Just another reason to hate the bitch. Should have picked Pau. But I also picked Nash and he's not doing me any favors either...

Again, WTF are you talking about? All those Manu & Kobe stats are from this year!

And are you really this stupid? I just don't get it. Curry was ranked #5 in the beginning of this season, you really think he is better than Dwight? You would really pick Curry over Dwight if you are going to start a team and build a team around? And you call me insane? Fantasy basketball is different from real basketball.

See your problem is you base all your shit on all these analysis and ranking, fuck make up your mind yourself. Ask any GM's, any teams, any owners of an NBA team, no one in their right mind will pick Manu over Kobe, NO ONE! Doesn't matter if it is based this year or any other year. Just ask yourself that question and you will see who is better.

You keep believing these stats, just look at the stats and tell me that Manu is better than Kobe because he has .5 more stl and .5 less TO? Seriously, it's like to talking to a child here. It is fucking insane!

Exactly. Chris Paul has been ranked #1 for several years now, are you really saying he is better than Lebron, Wade, Dwight, etc...

Timmy is having an off season. THIS season. Which is what I've been talking about the whole time.

Do you really think an NBA GM would build a team around either of them? They've both got a lot of mileage on them. I think they'd build it around younger players.

Do I need to find you more stats other than just Yahoo fantasy? Manu's playing out of his mind and is being mentioned on a number of sites as an MVP candidate

Kobe's having an off year.

I find it amusing/amazing that anyone who questions the Lakers or anything about them gets spoken to like this:

Seriously, it's like to talking to a child here. It is fucking insane!

Face it- you're in denial. The Lakers have slipped. They won't even win the Western Conference, much less the NBA Finals.

Back to the bet. Here's your big chance to get me to wear a Kobe jersey...

I'm in denial? The Lakers has slipped? Their #2 in the West, #3 in the league. And were barely half way done in the season. Yet you predict they already lost in the playoffs? Their still defending champs and last I checked the Spurs hasn't won shit in 3 years. And Kobe having an off year because he is averaging 26/5/5 a game.

I love the smell of smoking Laker tresses in the morning.

All of this certainty, but you're still not willing to bet?

You must not think your team is that good...

WTF are you talking about, I said I'm good with it as long as I don't have to buy the jersey.
i'm not going to spend $80 on something I'm going to wear 5 seconds.

The thing is, the bet would be better if you were actually an Spurs/NBA fan than a Kobe hater.
If the Spurs had Kobe, you'd probably hate on that team too.

It's all the same though, you've been exposed that you know nothing outside of reading ESPN.com and re-iterating whatever they write about in there.

Lakers Threepeat?

Ok- again- s-l-o-w-l-y this time.

I followed Marquette basketball throughout the 70s.

I followed the Lakers through the Magic years, and the Kobe/Shaq years, because I lived in LA. No one can convince me that Kobe didn't run Shaq out of town by tanking in the finals against Detroit. And then there's the whole Colorado thing.

I moved down here and became a Spurs fan. Because they are a team. And they play defense. How many times did Manu and George Hill strip the ball from Kobe? Kobe got so frustrated he wanted to throw down with a 3yr reserve.

I'll admit I probably don't watch as much basketball as the rest of you guys. But I'd also be willing to bet I have more obligations.

Doesn't mean I don't know as much basketball as you do. Or that your belief that the Spurs WON'T go anywhere, but the Lakers will (for the 3rd season in a row- despite everyone else having improved more than Steve Blake and Matt what's his name).

Ah- but I digress...Why don't you take up a collection? With all the Laker fans in here it'd only cost you $5.00 each...For a SURE thing, right?

Dude, you're the only one saying that the Laker won't 3peat. None of us has said the Spurs won't go anywhere until you started opening your mouth and practically gave them the chip just because they have the best record. You could care less before this season how the Spurs did, you were quiet the last 2 years because they haven't done shit. If you look back at all the NBA threads here, I actually had Spurs pegged to be a contender when they got Jefferson, I was wrong then. I never hated the Spurs, I don't even really hate Boston, I just hate KG and Pierce and Rondo, but I can honestly say Rondo is one of the best PG and that chip they won thanks to KG was well deserved.

You can also see I am always positive about the Clips at the beginning of the season and they rarely win, I wasn't bandwagoning just because of Griffin this year. That's a fan, not someone who all of a sudden denies everyone of their championship because his team has the best record. They have to prove it first.

Were Lakers fans, their the defending champs and won it 2 times in a row so we predict a 3peat. But you, you can't accept it because of your hatred for Kobe. I'm a basketball fan, I can separate the personal stuff to their skill. I hate Lebron and his stupid antics but I can say he is the best in the game right now hands down. You, you can't see past your hatred just because Kobe "supposedly" broke up the team? Come on, Shaq is a dumbass and it's a 2 way street. I am sure Shaq did the something to break it all up too, it's not just Kobe. But who really knows?

Back to the Spurs, no one here is saying the Spurs will go no where, if you read my posts, I always said they haven't done shit in the past 3 years. I've said numerous times how impressed I am by their Euro style of play but again, your hatred for the Lakers (or Lakers fans) and Kobe makes you read past that and probably read past through this reply as well.

And then you predict the Lakers has fallen off? Why? Because their 3rd in the league? That makes no sense, again, pure hate and nothing else. Kobe has fallen off? He isn't scoring as much, ok, but he leads the team in assist. Yeah it's only 5ast/gm but that still means dude actually facilitates. See, you talk and read these ranking but know nothing. I understand not being able to pay attention as much as most of us do but if you don't know anything, don't say anything. Simple as that. Why can't you just say "go Spurs go" and be done with it? I understand a few jabs here and there when each team loses but to start blurting out stupid stuff like "Manu is playing better than Kobe, look at the stats" or "the Lakers won't win a 3peat because their not in first place" then it just becomes ridiculously dumb.

Not the same explosive Kobe that would reverse dunk on a blockers face but he still get there an do his thing on a nightly basis. I think that is one main difference with the two right now.

Agree that Kobe > Duncan this year, and probably the rest of the way. But I think it's legit to compare their careers because they are more or less in the same generation of players.

Duncan has probably topped out already. But where he is is not too shabby. Greatest PF in history and might win another chip but they've gotta do it soon

Kobe? Has a great shot to be a top 5 player - all time, any position - by the time he hangs em up. Because he's still playing at a very high level

the only reason I don't see the lakers 3 peating is that they will have been to their 4th consecutive finals. its like the 84-87 celtics that had total powerhouse teams but were just too banged up and had to go through ridiculously loaded eastern conference every year plus tough finals opponents. those celtics teams only won 2/4 trips because the starters and big three were worked so hard for those 4 straight 100+game seasons. the other recent three peats: bulls/lakers had teams that reached the finals and won during the three times they got there. its a testament to the spurs management that would massively reload around their main 3 and win 4 trophies on different years. but now with the expanded first round its just so hard to have teams go through all that. it looks like the lakers will have to go through another sickly loaded west (where the 1st round could go to 6-7 games) then face a bulls/orlando/miami/boston juggernaut waiting in the finals after almost 400+ straight games (4 100 game seasons).

While that is true, I still feel that it won't really have much effect if the Lakers makes the finals. Keep in mind that the Celtics, the favorite out of the East, has also been there for the past 3 years with the Lakers. 2 yrs ago, even though they didn't make the finals, they had a long strenuous playoff run like the Chicago series that lasted 7 games. In addition, Celtics have been more banged up this season with Garnette & Rondo, plus Perkins barely returning and both O'neals being hurt. So really, I think it's a wash to those two. Keep in mind that Kobe also had a lot of rest this off-season, same with Pau. The Lakers seems to be taking it easy right now in the regular season and they can afford to as long as they stay close to the top.

well i didn't really mention the celtics (my fav team of course) because they are in the same exact boat. Hell last year they were already written off regular season wise but turned on the switch and reached the finals - essentially putting them almost level with lakers with the amount of games played in the same 4 year stretch (that 300 game amount seems to make teams plateau and lose/not make the finals).

i'm always expecting the wheels to fall off this celtics team due to their geriatric state+scary injuries to anyone.

miami looks to be the team out of the east that can just run off and win a series by sweep. oklahoma looks like its athletic enough to do the same in the west.
