I'm obviously very biased, but I love the David West to the Celtics deal. Rumor is that NO is waiting to ship out CP3 before they finish the D West deal. If the Lakers do in fact get Paul and Okafor, that's a much better deal for them.

Danny Ainge is putting together a very quiet, but very solid offseason so far. All in one day too, which makes it especially exciting for us Celtics fans. One or two more pieces would be nice--a center and another perimeter shooter perhaps, but I think the current team (provided that the West deal works out) can give anyone in the East a run for their money.

But its all going to be for naught, because he's sandbagged the team's relationship with Rondo (their best player). He's notoriously sensitive and now that he know they were willing to throw him under the bus, he'll be gone when his time comes.

..except every article and interview on the subject (and there have been many) seems to indicate the opposite. If I had to guess, I'd say that Rondo will have even more of a chip on a shoulder than usual and will play hard to prove his worth.

Time will tell I guess.

the ULTIMATE "I'm danny ainge - I'm gonna do what ever the ******* takes I dont-give-a-**** who's feelings are hurt" move would be to sign West then amnesty Garnett or Pierce then make a run to trade for Dwight Howard as a one year rental with a package of either west/green, rondo, and assets.

the celtics would be thin at point guard again, but there's actually a lot available with amnesties coming through (b. davis, chauncy billups, ect).

the unfair trade would involve keeping rondo somehow (maybe west + green + assets or a third team), but thats a pipe dream that would only happen pre 2008... (like garnett to celtics or pau to the lakers :lol:)

This shortened and condensed season is gonna be tough on old teams like Boston. I can't imagine KG's knees holding up to all the B2Bs.

lost in all this is one of the best moves I've seen so far - Celtics closing in on signing David West while giving up none of their core. he's a great fit for that team...

Although I think West is a Celtics type player, I'm not sure he is a good fit with the C's current talent, specifically, because he plays the same position as KG. The Celtics really need a center, to fix Ainge's deal from last year that send Kendrick Perkins to OKC. So I expect more moves from the Celtics (Tyson Chandler to the Celtics would have been a great move).

Whoa...Lakers pull out of CP3 deal, and instead are trading LO to Dallas it seems. They must have come to their senses and are going after Dwight!
Hey, with all this talk of West on the Celtics (good fit for the Celts, real deep at versatile Fs now)...why is nobody talking up the other notable trade...
Vlad Radmanovic to the Atlanta Hawks!!! :slayer: :crackup::lol:

****... I kind of feel bad for odom... he already was distraught and cried on national radio before... he's really been put through the wringer and he didn't even really do anything bad last year except for being 6th man of the year, team player, and loyal lieutenant.

I agree, and I really like Lamar as a player and person. However, I think his reaction yesterday was way over the top for a pro athlete and perhaps the Lakers felt he would no longer focus. Even Kobe seemed pissed at Lamar's missing practice, judging by his comments.

Lamar did give up a lot (starting position, salary) to stay with the Lakers. But, that was his business decision, so I don't really think he is correct in now playing the loyal-victim card. This, unfortunately for him but hopefully for the best interests of the team (draft picks to send to Orlando + Bynum + ??? for Dwight), is the Lakers' business decision. If LO is really gone, he will be missed, he gave us a lot. But the Lakers need to change and if the trade helps get a younger Dwight, I'm all for it.

^ i still think a Rondo + Green/West + draft picks or Green + West + draft picks package from the celtics is a better deal that orlando has to consider than just compared to bynum + draft picks. plus danny ainge doesn't seem to give a **** if its a one year rental of howard/chris paul.

unless they are dangling both pau and bynum + draft picks (but then thats too much and might leave the lakers too thin)

Except the Magic have given Howard permission to talk to 3 teams only: NJ, DAL, LAL. Not Boston. Since this Odom trade involves LAL-DAL, I suspect something must be in the works re: Howard-Lakers. I certainly hope so. I have not read of any Howard-Boston scenario.

Apparently the Clippers are now the frontrunners for CP3.

basically howard's agent is free to create the best deal possible with those three teams (at howard's request because he likes those three teams).. since howard's agent is given permission then its now not tampering.

but orlando's GM can deal with any offers from any team itself and get the best deal for Orlando.

as long as howard doesn't have a no-trade clause... then orlando is free to deal with any team they want (especially if its a team willing to sign howard as a one year rental).

I've been an Odom fan since his clipper days but honestly he pissed me off last year he just doesn't give a **** and his worth ethic is garbage. He's a defensive liability and incredibly inconsistent, Lakers don't need him pack him up with his jelly beans for someone who can deliver when it counts not just during the regular season.

Got it, thanks.

Still, I don't think the Lakers would have traded Odom without having a Howard framework in place.

Wow, David Stern has absolutely ruined the Hornets. Keeping Paul there at all costs is not going to make them more attractive to a potential buyer. After all this, Paul is certain to walk next year, with the Hornets getting 0 in return; I doubt, if he isn't traded in the next few days, a new owner would be able to trade him for value once the season starts, with teams knowing he's free in 66 games. There needs to be something set up like an independent arbitrator in the case of owner-less teams; the NBA can't be allowed to wreck teams, GMs, coaches, players like this....

Just a thought: what if the Lakers pick up Billups? He'd be willing to play and they could get him for a song. Maybe next year make a push for D-Will or CP3 if he has not signed by then.
