They have the lengthy Davis that will likely be the rookie of the year, Anderson who was pretty good in Orlando, a PF/C that can sink 3s. They have Austin Rivers who has more upside than Lamb but again, he got hurt. I think that is a pretty solid core with the addition of Vasquez who is a rising PG (he did well as the main PG at the second half of last season).
So I would put them right there in the category of GSW and MIN who could get close to 8th place (but could not quite make it) if healthy.

i have only seen Austin Rivers play in one game, but from what i can see the kid is the most awful "high upside" prospect i've seen in awhile. he doesn't seem particularly quick or shifty, and seems like an average ballhandler shooter. i know shooting is supposed to be his strength, so maybe it was one bad game, and maybe his ankle is still bothering him.

the worst part is that he'll get the ball, put his head down and try to worm his way to the rim. doesn't work against experienced NBA defenders unless you're supremely gifted like Lebron, and i could tell his teammates were getting a little pissed at his ball stopping.

i'm sure he'll get better after a few more games, but he needs a strong coach to beat the ballhog gene out of his system. experience tells us that it's not easy to do

Source: Lakers fire Mike Brown

Los Angeles Lakers coach Mike Brown has been fired after a 1-4 start to the season, a source tells ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne.

It is not known yet who will take over for him, but a source indicated that it will either be assistant coach Bernie Bickerstaff or Chuck Person on an interim basis.

Sources had said earlier Friday that his job would be in jeopardy if the team did not perform well on its upcoming six-game homestand.

The Lakers have had a healthy Steve Nash in the lineup for only 1½ of their five games so far thanks to a leg injury, while fellow newcomer Dwight Howard has acknowledged that he's still recovering from the back surgery that brought a premature end to his 2011-12 campaign and knocked him out of the London Olympics. Kobe Bryant has also been playing through a foot ailment.
The Lakers are off to the worst start in the Western Conference despite carrying the league's largest payroll at just over $100 million, which would trigger an estimated luxury-tax bill at season's end of nearly $30 million.

Isn't he an Asst Coach with the Pacers right now? Doubt he could just leave right away and jump ship.

I say try and get Jerry Sloan, he's the only very good coach out there that isn't working iirc. Plus dude made Stockton & Malone, imagine what he could do with Nash & Pau & Dwight?
