I honestly do not even know who would be stupid enough to sign a pre-nup agreement like that. Then again I didn't anyone who isn't blind would marry that thing so...

Hmmmm....

Now if he'll show up instead of retire then good news for the Clips.

Clippers win waiver bid for Chauncey Billups

The Clippers have won the waiver bidding for Chauncey Billups, who was waived by the New York Knicks under the NBA's one-time amnesty provision, two people familiar with the process who were not authorized to speak on the matter said.

Teams were notified Monday in a memo that the Clippers had the winning bid for Billups.

The NBA also sent teams a memo informing them that the league had warned Billups and his agent, Andy Miller, that if the veteran guard didn’t show up to the team that selected him, he would be in breach of his contract.

Billups had threatened not to show up if the winning bidder was a team he didn’t want to play for, and if it wasn’t close to winning a championship.

Billups, upset that the Knicks used the amnesty on him, was due to earn $14.2 million this season. Under the new collective bargaining agreement, the Knicks will pay $12.2 million of that, and the Clippers will pay about $2 million of Billups’ 2011-12 salary.

It was a good move by the Clippers after they broke off talks with the New Orleans Hornets about a trade for point guard Chris Paul.

The Clippers also needed a backup point guard because second-year guard Eric Bledsoe will be out until late January recovering from right knee surgery.

“Chauncey is a good dude. He’ll show up,” said one NBA executive who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter. “He’s a class act. He was just frustrated with the Knicks. He’ll be all right.”

Billups
Gordon
Butler
Griffin
Kaman

I can live with that.

Edit: Clips matched GSWs offer for Jordan so he's staying. Young dude will be getting paid, 4yrs for $43m+. I like Jordan but damn is he worth that much? He compliments Griffin but for that price, the Clips better be thinking of trading Kaman.

the Gordon, Bledsoe, and pupu platter offer for CP3 was probably something I'd pull the trigger on. of them all I think Gordon's the only potential star, the rest are great to decent role players at best, and you've got to pay the price for one of the 5 best players in the world. and a CP3, Butler, Griffin and Jordan core is pretty damn interesting.

and lols at Baron Davis already being "injured". new season, same old weak willed money stealing bum. we're at the point that he should be amnestied not to clear up cap space or to save money, but simply to be rid of his bullshit

This is nuts.

The Clippers are actually making good, smart moves and the Lakers are screwing around, pissing off their own players (except for Bynum and Artest, who don't seem to care about jack)....

Also, if the Lakers do get Dwight without Turkoglu, they will still be over the cap next year. $28M (Kobe) + $20M (Dwight) + $6M (Walton) + $4M (Blake) + $3M (Fish) = $61M. And this includes amnestying Artest. Plus, that's only 6 players. Fill out the roster with other veteran minum players and you're looking at $70M to start the season.

I'm sure they can do some maneuvering, but not enough to have the cap space to sign a max contract player. And again, this is with somehow not getting saddled with Turkoglu's contract.

If you say so. I thought if they lose Odom, Gasol, and Bynum's salary, thats about equal to 2 max players. But the cap is complicated; you may know better than me.

Might be moot now though.

Technically you're right here. But the Lakers' salary is at $91M with Odom and the cap is somewhere under $60M. So if you replace all those guys with Dwight, you're still going to be over (or with some maneuvering at least around) the cap.

Behind all the smoke and mirrors, then, maybe the best explanation for Odom trade is plain old fashioned salary dump.

Howard/Magic are talking about keeping him.

Soooo, the potential net result from all this is Lakers lose the 6th man of the year, massive downgrade at coach, sign Jason Kapono, and collectively get one year older.

Fu
