Any superstar on any team would instantaneously be more famous/richer/more endorsements by simply playing in NY and pretty much all of them, except those that play in LA, if given the choice, would play in NY over some midwest/southern crap city. True story.

thats the thing. I love NYC, its an awesome city, and it truly is a mecca of producing basketball talent - but that doesn't make the knicks a relevant NBA franchise. tongue.gif Of course its theoretically an awesome place to play because of the fans and marketing hype - but what transcendent superstar has forced their way on to the knicks just for those reasons? Carmelo?

they say MSG is the Mecca of basketball, and it pretty much is a grand stage for players to showcase a monster game... the problem is its always the opposing player on the visiting team on showcase (Lebron dropping 50, or kobe dropping 50, or jordan decapitating the 90's knicks, or Reggie Miller, ect) tongue.gif

the yankees can actually claim to have a winning tradition and be a cathedral of baseball because, um they have 27 championships to back up the claim. Knicks have a couple chips from the 70's that you have to be at least 50yo to have seen live on maybe a colored TV.

Do I even have to mention Wade, Haslem, Birdman, etc.??

Cavs are at the top right now to make the Finals next year btw. I wonder, is it because of LeBron or that amazing roster the Heats have?
"apologist." "hater." so lame.

i don't think you're stupid enough to think that cleveland really represents his best chance at winning a championship so what are you really arguing? i notice you didn't mention houston or chicago like i'd brought up.

btw literally every analyst post-finals said that miami would have the eastern conference locked up if the big 3 returned. just like every analyst agreed during the season that the cavs had derailed their team far too much to have lbj come there to win immediately. so again, what are you really arguing?

*hint* vegas odds are actually calculated to make casinos the most money, not to accurately predict the future. so the fact that cleveland (currently) has the best odds is inherently a result of the mounds and mounds of public and media interest there's been in his FA story.

I thought the Gold Club era was the best. One of my favorite lines will always be Ewing's, "The girls danced, started fondling me, I got aroused, they performed oral sex. I hung around a little bit and talked to them, then I left."

You Knicks haters are hilarious. It's okay, you can admit that you have an inferiority complex because your crapass city isn't New York.

Face it - the Knicks are the nba version of the Jets, only jets fans realize the reality that their team is full of lolz and actually plays in New Jersey tongue.gif

Also I have lived and worked in the nyc metropolitan area for the last 7 years... I consider it home right now. Knick fans have this weird crossover from being Yankee fans where they think both franchises are almost equal in tradition of winning and mystique. Hate to break it to you but the nets probably have a history that's just as good or even better than the Knicks when you include the ABA years.

I think the Jets as a franchise have had more success than the Knicks. If the Knicks had 0 championships they'd be the Cubs.

I have to say I rather enjoyed Simmons melo article. Only one glaring comparison to the bird celtics. He's pretty spot on too. Melos never had a halfway decent team around him. And he gets shit on for not being a team player. You would play ISO too if you were melo with woodson not calling any offensive sets, prigioni was your best point guard, and you had bargs and JR chucking up shots and makes barely a third of them and god knows what else they were doing, and your elite rim protector and go to post up guy disappeared and the other guy was injured half the time

Yeah, I liked the article, too. Melo gets too much undeserved hate, but Simmons does have a point -- he chose the money over winning (same decision Bosh made by spurning Houston), so he's made his bed. Now he has to sleep in it.
