thats the thing. I love NYC, its an awesome city, and it truly is a mecca of producing basketball talent - but that doesn't make the knicks a relevant NBA franchise.
Of course its theoretically an awesome place to play because of the fans and marketing hype - but what transcendent superstar has forced their way on to the knicks just for those reasons? Carmelo?
they say MSG is the Mecca of basketball, and it pretty much is a grand stage for players to showcase a monster game... the problem is its always the opposing player on the visiting team on showcase
(Lebron dropping 50, or kobe dropping 50, or jordan decapitating the 90's knicks, or Reggie Miller, ect)
the yankees can actually claim to have a winning tradition and be a cathedral of baseball because, um they have 27 championships to back up the claim. Knicks have a couple chips from the 70's that you have to be at least 50yo to have seen live on maybe a colored TV.
