I heard that Sota wanted Klay, Lee and a #1, plus maybe even Barnes?? for Love and Martin. that's absolutely bullshit and I don't blame GSW for telling them to go fuck themselves

Not as bad as anticipated.

Cavs are in a no win, I think their right.

If I was Cleveland, I'd trade Kyrie, or Kyrie + Bennet/Waiters for Love, then take Exum.

That's good to know but I would be very afraid of trading starters for Love. He has zero playoff experience. He has a season on his watch where Minnesota got 16 wins for the season and recent history tells you that players that demand their current teams trade them or let them know they won't sign with them (Howard with Magic, Melo with Denver), well, it hasn't gone so great with them. To me, I put Melo and Love in the same tier. Guys that can score the ball but not necessarily team players that elevate teammates or a team. At least Melo took Denver to the WCF, Love has done nothing. And his first 3 years in the league or so, there were no good Clippers or OKC teams. But if GSW wants him, then by all means, break up a 50+ win team.

I don't understand all the Bill Simmons negativity. While at times he's a bit annoying to listen to, I don't see a huge amount he says that's wrong. He was solid in that podcast above and has been in many other interviews I've watched, especially his interview with Steve Nash.

Yeah, one has to wonder if Love isn't fools gold. I won't feel too bad if they do trade Klay for him but I think I lean towards preferring they keep him. IF they could drop Lee and Barnes plus future (late round) first for him though . . that I'd do in a NY min.

i disagree. on defense love is actually not terrible (his defensive stats are better than david lee's) but on offense his 3 point shot makes the opposing 4s stick to him like glue which really opens up the lane, creates mismatches, forces rotations, and gets other shooters open. he's like top 5 player on offense and better than league average on defense. give him a good system and teammates who can actually shoot and he'll be amazing

also his assists get better every year (his 3 point shot probably helps a lot). on the floor he assists on 20% of the team's field goals which is a pretty crazy number for a big and puts him in the top 10 at least for bigs

also i think it's pretty unfair to blame the wolves problems on love. love's a top 10 maybe top 5 player. it's not his fault the wolves have whiffed on pretty much every single draft pick otherwise. wolves should've made playoffs this season but they're terrible at crunch time and love's not the problem

his post game is also on point and a legitimate threat that causes double teams

if they can get love without trading klay that would be awesome. dude curry, iggy, thompson, love, bogut with ezeli, o'neal, green, and a PG (blake, augustin, collison, or livingston. shit livingston would be fucking awesome)

goddamn, but id rather have stan van gundy than love

this is one of the best articles i've ever read

it's about the 1989 princeton (16) vs georgetown (1) game. georgetown with two future hall of famers in alonzo mourning and dikembe mutombo on an all black team led by a black coach. princeton with a bunch of scrappy white players led by a white coach playing in the famous princeton system with high post passing and backdoor cuts. its about how automatic bids came to stay in march madness allowing more cinderella stories to happen since then.

as a side note the new cavs coach was a PG at princeton and uses a lot of their principles. in an interview he broke down the the second field goal of the game that happened 25 years ago off the top of his head even though he was never there

Beginning of that game, Dick Vitale says something to the effect of if Princeton wins he'll join the Princeton cheerleading team and wear a tutu. At halftime, the score is like 24-25 and they go to the studio. Vitale is sitting there shocked and his co-host deadpans "Princeton cheerleading team called and asked what size tutu you wear"

I laughed pretty hard at that one. I loved how they just sat there for a fee seconds just looking at each other

I'm telling you... 4 point line is the solution.

moving back the line won't change anything players will adapt and in few years game will look even worse and it will be even harder to defend anyone when you have to cover such a big ground with just 5 players.

4pt would be detrimental to the game as well, you'd say matt boners 4pt from half the court is worth twice as much as the shot you work very hard for posting up or driving to the hoop?

I don't think that's right. You're right that players would adjust, and of course a line so far back nobody could reliably hit from there would be pointless. But it remains true that the farther out the line, the harder the shot. You'd change the cost/benefit analysis of the shot. By how much? Who knows.

Also, if the difficulty for guarding somebody out that far were so detrimental to overall defense, you'd have more teams/players developing that kind of range now for just that reason.

line now is far enough imo, I wouldn't change a thing

Love would be a great fit for the Spurs with Timmy retiring in a year. But who to trade for him? Best wait till he goes free agent. BTW does he have a no-trade?
