NBA 2014-2015 Season Thread - Page 1104

I spent my growing up years in LA and my family's still there, and I've gone back and forth. And I did like the Lakers then but wouldn't really say I was a die hard fan. But I've lived in Miami all my adult life - 15 years - and the team just appealed to me the most (the season tix really helped cement that loyalty)

But I still know enough about LA sports that you can't be both a Laker and Clipper fan. You're still gonna keep getting shit from me about that lol8[1].gif

I gotcha, was a genuine curiosity. I never said I was a clippers fan but there's never been any angst or animosity against them and always enjoyed watching the games when there wasn't a laker game on in the past. I do despise the angels though and their fans since I'm a diehard dodgers fan. I've said this before too my buddy's gf was part of clippers spirit and we'd go to games ten year ago, there doesn't exist any hate for them like the angels in my circle of friends or people I know. When she became a laker girl we'd go to the games then too, though I went to a game or two when I was younger at GW which I much prefer to staples. The clipper games were at sports arena. Those same guys have gone to numerous clipper games these past couple years but they don't claim to be clipper fans now. The getting ish part from you really doesn't phase me so you can continue to mention it. It'll just be interesting to see how purported heat fans will dismember once leclown leaves. I actually liked miami before the wade days because of pat riley, it's just not a real sports town (aside from football) so they can't be taken seriously and the fanbase is a joke as they've demonstrated.

Leaving on top is overrated. Duncan and Pops should keep coming back until the Spurs are no longer competitive. The Bulls may have left a title or two on the table after 1998, and I think they forever regret that.

^ well they haven't won back to back.. yet

Malone wanted to fuck Kobe's wife, Payton hated the triangle, Shaq wanted more money, and Kobe was possibly going to prison. Kobe could of had 7 championships. The Spurs have just been more consistent with Duncan.

It was terrible what the drama did to Malone's knee.

^ more Lakers-Pistons / Heat Spurs analogy

Good video where Rick Fox says about their loss to Pistons in the finals compared to what Heat might face. These finals idd were a lot a like if you think about it.

Also Tim Duncan has a bit unfair advantage over other PFs, he spent most of his floor time from day one playing the center honestly. He is guy in the middle who is cornerstone of defense, and go to guy on the low block. That's a looks a lot like center to me. But it doesn't matter really. Him, Olajuwon and O'Neal were unstoppable in their primes and to me the best bigmen to ever play the game.

Nah, I've always been a fan of both though it's always Lakers first Clips second.

Look back since the beginning of this thread and my pre-season predictions every year and you'll see that I always mention the Clips even before Griffin even played a game as a Clips. I've always tried to be optimistic about their year and always hope they make the playoffs. Been a fan of Magette, Odom, Richardson, Brand, etc.. team too, just a young and exciting team there. Always tried to watch both teams as much as I can too.

That was a great showing by the Spurs though, grats to them. Heat was outclassed and schooled.

Leonard as Finals MVP though, big props to dude. I still don't see him as that franchise player (a la Kobe, Melo, Bron, KD, etc...) but god I hope I am wrong.

I'm a Lebron fan

If it was a team it'd be Chicago as I grew up watching Jordan with my dad.

hahahahaha. apparently the per (pre-game 5) for all the players ranked on both teams went: LBJ at something ridiculous, like 31, then SEVEN SPURS between 17 and 24, and then everybody else.

Case in point this waitress at the restaurant I frequent where I smoke cigars who's a miami fan. I said are you from miami or have any reason to like them or do you just like their logo? She claims she's liked them since shaq days and I said were you a fan since then or just claimed to be a fan since they started winning? Told her she should be a Lakers fan and she said she was coming around smh. She was so cocky and talking shit about the heat winning and smirking and all that shit whenever I come in so I'm going to love rubbing this shit in like lotion. Same with my buddy who was saying miami was going to steamroll the spurs after their game 2 victory and not to worry to all the haters LOL!!! Both of them are having seconds and thirds of some humble pie right now. Also I've always said spoelstra was overrated and overhyped as a coach, frankly I don't think he could do shit with a lesser team.

this. non-lakers fans will not be aware it's possible to root for individual players that aren't kobe.

i want memphis to be my favorite team but unfortunately it might still be houston. in the east i do like lbj and i have a fondness for the wizards.

i don't claim to be a diehard fan of any team. my girl is a diehard okc fan so i prob watched 60 of their reg season games this year, and that'd be the most by far of any team.

I'm a Lebron fan also. I cheer for the Rockets and Lebron. I liked the Heat when they had Lebron and I'll admit I'm a bandwagon fan but I don't rub it in peoples' faces about it when the Rockets or Lebron wins.

I've said this before just like you have, people don't understand how you can like the clips if you're a laker fan but it is like that in some circles. I'll never be a clippers fan but I've always watched them play the past couple decades so I don't know why people have a problem with this.

This was such a great series I thoroughly enjoyed watching it and lebron being neutered. Now I'll be accused of being a spurs fan even though I hate them lol8[1].gif

i don't know., i'm a laker fan first, but i like the clippers too. of course, that's particularly true over the last couple of years, and especially since they got doc. maybe i am just a front-runner. :ember:
i wonder if the spurs win and all the attention will have any lasting impact on the way the game is played. could this be the end of hero ball? nah, didn't think so either. but a guy can dream.
