NBA 2014-2015 Season Thread - Page 1097

Would have been close. But I don't think the Heat have looked unathletic or hobbled outside of Wade. Spurs are just plain better, and figured out (and can actually enact!) the exact ridiculous movement offense that is the antidote to the Heat's defense. No chance OKC could do that. MIA would ignore Sefolosha and Perkins and their bench until the cows came home.

I don't know but Birdman and Bosh just look slow to me the past two games. Add to that their deteriorating point guard situation; OKC-MIA would have been a closer series I think. You are right that Heat would ignore everyone not named Westbrook or Durant though but the Heat is basically the LeBron Show right now anyway.

they look slow because the spurs are moving the ball so well ("You can't outrun the ball" "hand down; man down"). they're caught in a tornado and it has them befuddled and second-guessing every move. i don't think okc could have done this at all ... you'd have westbrook playing hero ball and durant trying to break free from lbj.
let's win one for Pop on Father's day (indesertum is an idiot).

Somewhere, Bob Hill is crying and thinking, "Give me Tim Duncan and I would have won four championships."

Bosh looks slow? He doesn't look slow to me at all, he looks kinda the same as he's always been on Miami.

Yeah you're right, Birdman does look really slow, I think cuz he's injured.

Not sure who would win that one. Might come down to how conservative or innovative Brooks would have been.

By no means am I saying OKC would have won but maybe could have taken them the distance?

All this to say, just glad to see Heat finally showing signs of mortality (many would say it's been obvious since last year but they still got a chip in the end so..)

This. Miami is not that much slower than they were last season. If anything, Ray Allen looks fitter. I think its foodguys point plus the fact that the Heat just don't appear hungry enough for it. In any case, I don't think its physical. To me Wade didn't look hobbled as much as he looked indifferent.

OKC wouldn't have steamrolled like this. Not a chance.

Like I said before I don't believe Heat are playing as sharp as last 2years, not sure what it is they just don't tick as good as before.
Maybe it's not particular players playing worse(like someone mentioned Ray Allen is playing probably better than last year) but overall they are not on the same page. That's why I picked Spurs in 6, but they will hopefully close it out now in 5, hopefully this will not drag on...

It could be Battier playing like crap hurts them, because he is their best defender(or maybe was). I think they are more aggressive team defensively with him playing. But on offense they are also less efficient so maybe that's not it.

+1

I think it was edmorel who said this Heat were basically more or less the Cavs team LBJ brought to the Finals years ago. And ed mentioned this back in Feb/March before this meltdown.

Not to take anything away from the Spurs. They are Shaolin monks who mastered bball

i don't think you can underestimate just how hard it is to win back-to-back. the mental game alone is killing. imagine sitting for your bar exam two days in a row. (where is Mordecai?)

Or trying to sit for the bar exam a year after you've already passed it? I'm probably missing another joke here, but (at least in California) the bar exam is actually a three day ordeal.
