I'm not angry at all, just pointing out some pretty rampant double standards.

Back to basketball . . . The Wizards are going to be a tough out for anybody. Bunch of tall, rangy guys who can shoot, score in transition, and defend. The Wizards have been the fourth team in DC after the Skins, Caps, and Nats, and I hope folks in the city begin to realize how good they are.

he may not have much of a choice. You can't really count on Rose after the last two years and when you look at how the Bulls play, they are probably the one team that can absorb Melo's 30 shots a game and be better for it. Offensively they are a D League team, Noah has developed tremendously as a kind of point center but he's passing the ball to guys that are bench players (offensively) at best.

Really? The caps are 2? I don't follow nhl just know theyve never succeeded. Dc is a good baseball town and we all know harper and Strasbourg

I'm not mad, but he's a piece of shit that happens to be good at boxing. My point is that if you want to make progress as a league, you don't replace a despicable human being with one of the few people in sports that might be more despicable than Sterling. He doesn't even have Sterling's good sense to spout his vitriol in the privacy of his own home - he puts his racism in YouTube for everyone to see

Ultimately, she got squeezed. Two major distinctions here however, are that the tape has not yet been authenticated, whereas Marge's comments were fully and knowingly attributed to her, and she made them in public and while conducting team business whereas the comments alleged to Sterling were in a private location, presumably his home.

Ultimately it will come down to what the NBA Constitution, CBA (concerning what actions players may take if any) and probably the Law of Private Associations to determine what may be done.

I am not an attorney, but I play one on TV. Maybe LawyerDad can fill us in.

I predict a $5M fine and lifetime ban.

I know ya'll desperate to have people come in the boxing thread but get that mess out of here. lol8[1].gif

And not to get into it, Manny has no chance again Money so I am not even trying to defend Pacman, that is just unnecessary goading bringing up Pacquaio when he did not even mention him at all.

What do you mean that it is illegal in CA to record in such a manner? Not if his dumb ass consented.
Wasn't that Kobe's defense as well?

I notice people around here stowing away their Nats and Redskins gear and putting on John Wall jerseys.

And I guess Papa John's stopped it's 50% off pizzas whenever the Wiz win?

this is what it comes down to, IMHO. this was a business decision. You've got a very few mostly old white guys with an employee base that's 75% black, with a fan base that's disproportionally black and that depends for much of its revenue on advertising that is driven by public approval. Sterling threatened all of that.

most of the ticket buyers are white corporate guys though

I enjoyed how he assumed that everyone who doesn't like Floyd must be a Pacquiao fan. I've observed this from other Mayweather fans I know IRL too. It's like the fact that he disrespects pretty much everyone around him isn't reason enough....

I'm hardly going to sympathize with millionaires because they're less rich than the white guy. Just like I didn't sympathize with millionaire Bear Sterns employees leaving the office with boxes.

Perhaps a handful of people were truly offended at this, and they were likely within sterling's family, everyone else just uses the situation for their benefit.
My point is you're hyperbolically wrong, which is fine if you're venting and aware. But I don't buy that there's no end wealth diff between the avg player and avg owner. It's not the vast majority of owners going broke after leaving the league.

Also people comparing others' one-off racist comments against Sterling's are ridiculous, because of, uh, context. Plenty of people attempt ill-advised, unfunny, stupid jokes that end up coming off as racist, and apologize right away, and don't have a track record. It'd be pretty much impossible to argue that Sterling's racist comments don't entirely reflect his entire lifeview.

the wealth differential is not why they go broke. Give a guy 5 million a year who grew up not having money for dinner and disaster strikes by and large. My friend is a money manager for pro athletes. he had a retired nab player who made 76 million over 12 season and had 9k in the bank and was 4k into his overdraft.
