Michael Irvin on Tony Romo – “He doesn’t look like he’s that type of an athlete. But he is. He is, man. I don’t know … some brother down in that line somewhere … I don’t know who saw what or where, his great-great-great-great-grandma ran over in the ‘hood or something went down.”

In Spain they can't seem to stop throwing bananas at the soccer players.

Floyd Mayweather v Manny Pacquiao, calling him a “yellow chump” plus “motherfucker to make me a sushi roll and cook me some rice”

Zoeller v Tiger Woods: "You pat him on the back and say congratulations and enjoy it and tell him not to serve fried chicken next year. Got it? Or collard greens or whatever the hell they serve.”

Barkley on TNT on the high horse? What about “This is why I hate white people. You guys try to turn everything into a racial issue.” And Shaq? “Tell Yao Ming, ‘Ching-chong-yang-wah-ah-so.”

Ha ha, I find it funny how they sit on the TNT set all righteous now. Most people have racist views of one sort or another. People need to stop raising their own profiles and pretending they don't.

They weren't. They just said they were because it sounds good. And its a wealthy white guy paying wealthy black guys to basically run around and have fun and fuck lots of women and fly in chartered planes and basically have their entire lives catered to. This is hardly a racially charged environment. Its actually much more a socio-economic disparity between them and 99.99% of the donkeys that watch the games.

The plan was set, the product of a 30-minute players meeting.

The Warriors were going to go through pre-game warm-ups and take part in the national anthem and starting line-up introductions. They were going to take the floor for the jump ball, dapping up the Clippers players as is customary before games.

Then once the ball was in the air, they were just going to walk off. All 15 of them.

“It would have been our only chance to make a statement in front of the biggest audience that we weren’t going to accept anything but the maximum punishment,” Curry said. “We would deal with the consequences later but we were not going to play.”
Your last paragraph is ridiculous. Compare the net worth of any of these owners to just about any of these players.

My favourite part:

hilarious.

This whole thing is a clusterfuck. I just read the relevant language in the Constitution with respect to Commish powers re the owners, but there is absolutely no precedent for a lifetime ban and at minimum past decisions have been and must be based on substantive evidence, historical precedent and the scope of Commish powers. I'm actually surprised by how weak the language in the governing document is and seeing as how much of a dick bag Sterling is I wouldn't be surprised to see him challenge… doesn't seem like the kind of guy to just go away quietly.

He got a lot of flak for the black bodies comment too. I always thought it was insensitive and inappropiate comment(especially coz IIRC Sam Cassel was in the locker room LMAO) but not racist and people over reacted. What he said now is way worse, you can't defend it.

Anyway imagine someone like Cuban making black body comment. I think Mavs players would let it slide and some would vouch for him. Nobody ever vouches for Sterling(not then not now). Perhaps he is a first class asshole and annoys/offends everyone in the whole organization.

That's actually a good point, players can hardly call themselves victimized by the system. I'd like to be exploited that way.. NBA is basically a model of socio-economic justice, everywhere else workers get ***** in the ***. That's a good thing about NBA.

Hmmm. I'm not sure what your point is.

If you compare a billionaire to a millionaire you still have what, a millionaire? One that (cry me a river) wears black socks again today and turns a shirt inside out?

I'm hardly going to sympathize with millionaires because they're less rich than the white guy. Just like I didn't sympathize with millionaire Bear Sterns employees leaving the office with boxes.

Perhaps a handful of people were truly offended at this, and they were likely within sterling's family, everyone else just uses the situation for their benefit.

Fuck Floyd Mayweather. I wouldn't mind seeing another minority owner in sports, but not his racist, wife-beating loudmouth ass

Apparently the players were seriously considering a strike. That would be pretty disastrous for the NBA product.

they should strike so when they've pissed away all their money they can be security guards
