NBA 2014-2015 Season Thread - Page 982

Good games last night. These have been really good playoffs so far. CHI - WAS has still been the best series for my money.

HOU - POR was fun to watch, but blimey D Howard is so tragic on offense, its almost as bad as watching Hibbert.

Speaking of Hibbert, what happened to that guy? I don't think I've seen someone crash as much as him since Lamar Odom, and Odom was on the wrong side of 30 and battling drug addiction.

DJ seems to be able to shoot badly despite doing everything right. i remember one analyst talking about how it was actually harder for big guys to shoot free throws because their hands are so large that it's hard for them to hold the ball right. let's see where he is next year.

DJ has pretty bad form. His feet are squared up with both feet on the line, he follows through with four fingers, follow through goes to the right, and he stares at the rim too much. His release point is nice tho. Watch the good free throw shooters. KD does this and I was watching Kyle Lowry do this but their feet are turned 10 degrees left, body aligned with feet and turned a little left, right foot on line left foot behind a little, follows through straight forward with their index finger down and they watch the flight of the ball. KD also does this shoulder shrug every single time which I would conjecture acts like mental trigger

Watch DJs misses. The ball will fall to either side of the rim a lot. Great shooters (free throw and otherwise) miss short or long never to the side. Just watch any good shooter. Most of the times they miss it's too short but it's always centered.

I think the problem with most bigs free throws is that they never developed good shooting habits. Vast majority of good shooters align their hip and arm to the rim not their feet to the rim. When you square your feet to the rim it forces you to squish your arm and elbow into the middle to line up your forearm to the rim. Which is really really tough if you have massive pecs like most bigs. DJ doesn't even bother lining up his arm and elbow to the rim. It's kinda off to the side which makes it harder for the ball to fall straight. If he turned his body a little sideways he would make more shots fall.

You can have decent free throw percentage with the weirdest form but it probably takes a shit ton more work and you'll never be a great shooter. Like Shawn Marion and Joakim Noah have the worst forms. they make a decent percentage but they probably had to work hard at it and they're definitely anomalies

I forget who it was but I was watching another guy with feet squared up but his body was turned slightly left and he makes a pretty good portion of his free throws

why does he insist on getting the ball more? the man is clearly limited on the offense and cant guard outside the paint; he sticks out like a sore thumb. take a page from deandre's book: anchor the defense and hustle on offense (and lose 15-20 pound in the offseason, no need for that kind of size in todays NBA)

A real bombshell in the midst of the playoffs.

I started a thread here about it in CE,

http://www.styleforum.net/t/388026/la-clippers-owner-donald-sterlings-racist-rant-caught-on-tape

Better to comment on the political aspects there.

As to the basketball aspects, there is no way this situation is not bad for the Clippers.

can the nba fire an owner?
There's no way. I mean he own them right not the nba? They could fine him tho

I wonder how this will affect the clippers?

How do you know Deandre dosn't work hard for it though? Dude works just as hard a Blake and they have the same free throw coach, Blake has obviously improved while Deandre hasn't. I think some people are just bad at it no matter what and how much you teach them. I also read an article that it could also be a mental thing. There were reports that Dwight actually shoots free throws well in practice but once in game, everything changes.

And Deandres feet aren't squared up to the line and big man with big hands almost always have to follow threw with their fingers because if you follow threw with your palm it'll be like shooting with a softball or a volleyball, it won't roll off your hands the same way.

I really do not see a bad form when Deandre shoots his free throws and on more than a handful of occasion the commentators, including Reggie Miller and C Webb, have asked how he shoots so bad when his form is pretty damn good. This is fact as I've seen practically all Clippers game this season and the last. Those commentators are always baffled.

its atypical for an owner to draw so much attention to himself. first outspoken owner that comes to mind is Cuban but Sterling is on a different level. first the age discrimination suit brought on by elgin baylor, then the quote from baylor stating that Sterling brought in woman into the players locker room and while they were showering commented on "their beautiful black bodies", and now this revelation. Dude is also bringing this same gf to the games whilst married to another woman. What a POS

That isn't anything new for Sterling, he's been racist for the longest time. There have been numerous reports on him already, I think there was even a situation where the coach or assistant coach left because Sterling didn't want to pay them because they were black? Something like that, dude is a giant douche. I just though dude died already since the Clippers have been making good decisions and playing well, he usually lets go of every Clippers asset and that's why the team been crap for decades.

Wow, I was just talking about this with LawrenceMD a few pages back (before this latest report broke).  What an assclown.  He deserves to rot in hell and his players should walk out on him.

How would this help anyone?

Even if Sterling is forced to sell the team, he will get a great price for them.

Next Clipper game will be very interesting.

Just getting him out of the NBA should be the goal.  Even if he gets a great price, the next owners will be able to make their money back relatively quickly since LA is a big market.
