Bucks just sold for $550m. Crazy how valuable the nba is that even the shittiest team sells for that much

Mavs - Grizzlies game was nuts

Why does the Eastern Conference still exist at this point? Remove it and rename the league the WNBA (or something more fitting)

come on now... these things are cyclical. in the 80's it was only the rockets or lakers representing the western conference in the finals. seriously think about it... it was only the rockets and lakers reaching the finals out of the west in that whole decade.

there was a time where the celtics had like a decade or more long run of no losses to teams like the Dallas mavericks and Sacramento kings.

remember the bulls? they basically ran roughshod over the whole damn league in the 90's why not just have them as sitting champions in waiting like old chess champions?

the only true way to assess who would be the best overall team would be not to have a playoffs and just do it English Premier League soccer style and whomever has the best record at the end of the year is the champion. that way ever single regular season game becomes a huge war and the spurs would probably end up winning every other year.

It might be cyclical but this year the eastern conference should be demoted to d league. I swear the spurs bench could beat the bottom half of the teams going to the playoffs in the eastern conference. Timberwolves would just own them

Kind of humorous they had a lockout last year to cut salaries on the pretext that small market teams couldn't make any money.

No offense to the East because I'm actually rooting for that conference to improve. But to take your EPL example, watching an Eastern Conference game nowadays is akin to watching relegated/second division clubs play. They're nice enough to watch I guess (and even entertaining if you're a supporter of the team playing), but the stakes are like, non-existent almost. Compare that to a high profile derby or El Clasico or what have you which is fun regardless of your affiliation. Different strokes imo

so you want re-seeding? it seems fair enough, but even after re-seeding there would rarely be upsets because thats the nature of NBA playoffs (especially with the introduction of 7 game series even in the 1st round). what if after re-seeding and playing the playoffs the finals match up ends up being Pacers vs Heat? the pacers sucked in the last month, but they did great against the western conference.

an nba following the EPL model wouldn't have conferences or anything... it would just be one huge league and the top team with the most season wins would be the champion at the end of the year. it truly would probably mean that the bottom teams would be relegated to the D-league.

I would just get rid of conferences and divisions. Maybe not get rid of them but get rid of any significance. Top 16 records advance to playoffs. You can still have your division leaders but it'd be in name only. So suns would make playoffs this year instead of hawks

I'd also change the way the lottery works. Whether that's with a wheel or rewarding the team with the most wins that couldn't get in the playoffs (so if you have a bad season and are out of the playoffs early you still have incentive to win eg suns would at most get one win if they win their last game whereas the sixers would have more games to play and try to win the most games)

I understand the model if the NBA were to ever adopt it. I was just using the EPL comparison as an example of how little meaning an Eastern Conference game seems like these days.

But imagine a world where the NBA would have no choice but to relegate the Lakers to the D-League with the likes of the Sixers lol8[1].gif

Mike Miller played all 82 games for the Grizzlies for only the second time in his career his rookie season with Orlando in 2000-01. He became only the 23rd player in NBA history to play a full season in his 14th season or later. ...

great news considering her nearly retired two years ago due to a bad back. so many great matchups this year drool.gif

Clips vs Dubs in the 1st round and with Blake being on the limit of his techs, I have a feeling some dirty play will be used to try and take him out of a few games. I really hope it doesn't come to that.
