I don't how unsigned international players work

Do players regularly say they're going to play abroad but teams somehow get draft rights to them? What does that mean? If they ever come to the nba they can only sign with the team with their draft rights?

AFAIK, a player has to declare for the draft first and then they become draft eligible. After that, they are drafted, but if they decide to stay in their respective countries for a bit longer, they can (like Ricky Rubio when he was drafted by the T-Wolves but played for Barcelona for a couple more years). Once they do come over to the US, they can only play for the team that drafted them since it'd be stupid if a team used a pick on them and didn't get the player. Teams are allowed to trade their rights to the player before the player comes over to the US, though, just like they trade current players and picks (Marc Gasol's rights were involved in a transaction of this nature, I think).

Damn, feel bad the Suns didn't make the playoffs.

West is going to be so good though.

Any team the Clips plays feels like it's going to be a bloodbath whether it's the Dubs (likely first round), Grizz (not sure they've won against them this season), Mavs (3 game they won were comebacks and mostly double digits) or Blazers (very tough match-up). it'll be very physical for sure.

Spurs can't seem to beat the Rockets so that'll be interesting to see, OKC kind of flip-flopping since Wetsbrooks return, he either plays amazing or just plain sucks the life out of Durant.

West is just very competitive this year, well every year really but this year is just nuts. Dubs already won 3 more games than last year and they are in the same place as last year in the West iirc (6th).

Kind of lost interest in the East when the Pacers started fluttering, gives me an impression it's going to be to easy finals route for the Heat again outside of an all out battle with the Nets, which is a surprising team considering on how they got started.

Though there were surprise teams in the playoffs (Wiz, Cats and Raptors) I feel those teams just can't get an upset win in a 7-game series against the Heat.

I'd love to see the clips do well, doc has really turned them around. but i will never underestimate popovich and the spurs. when you look at what they've done this year, without anyone hardly noticing ... it's all about doing the right thing at the right time on as many plays as possible. love that kind of basketball.

like goran dragic? lowry should have made it as well. irony is that both played together in houston and were let go, ultimately in favor of jeremy lin. imagine houston with goran drool.gif

or houston with lowry.

dragic as starting pg and beverly as backup pg would be so fucking good

the best thing jim buss could do to screw over phil jackson is fire d'antoni and hire steve kerr

I'm still kind of surprised George Karl is killing time as an ESPN analyst right now. He should definitely be coaching somewhere in the league. He was the reigning Coach of the Year when he was fired and I think the reason was because, according to the Nuggets owner, he didn't play JaVale McGee enough, or something stupid like that. There are some real crappy coaches in the league right now (Mike Woodson, I'm looking at you).
