I really find it funny that the Lakers are speaking so far in advance about 2014 offseason when the '13-'14 season hasn't even started yet.

i find it sad. that said, there's still some potential on this team ... big question for me is whether they'll make the top half of the playoff bracket.

As overhyped as last years Lakers were, this years are underhyped, if that is a word. A core of Kobe, Pau and Nash are still better than 50-60% of the teams out there, Add in Kaman and I think they will be better than last year. No kowtowing to Howard, Gasol and Kaman take care of the inside and Kobe and the shooters the outside with Nash facilitating for everyone. The two risks are injuries and D'Antoni coaching like D'Antoni.

If that is the case then I would not draft him because obviously there is something mentally wrong with someone that wants to be on the Raptors

Anyone that believes that lakers have a legitimate chance at anything next season is smoking crack.

define "anything"; define "crack". and speaking of which, i'm REALLY glad now that you changed your avatar.
they'll be in the playoffs and may have a better record than last year. but not much more than that.

Anything means a better result than this season, ie better than a 1st round exit.

Crack is the smokable cocaine NorCal is addicted to.

Thanks, I like this avatar, its meta.

if nba teams were drugs the lakers would be a pretty disappointing high.

Seems good, assuming Kobe can come back for next season. That's a big assumption.

The Lakers are the high school kid who buys a bag of oregano thinking it's real, smokes it, acts high, then gets all pissed when someone tells him it was fake.

I don't entirely agree, but want to acknowledge that this is nevertheless really funny. fing02[1].gif

Grade for summer moves so far...

Quote:
LOS ANGELES LAKERS
Key moves: Signed Nick Young (one years, $1.1 million), Jordan Farmar (one year, $1.1 million), Chris Kaman (one year, $3.2 million)

Welp.

Grade: F

Meanwhile across to the other locker room...
Quote:
LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
Key moves: Re-signed Chris Paul (five years, $107 million), sign-and-traded for J.J. Redick (four years, $28 million) and Jared Dudley

Who are these guys? This isn't the Clippers is it? Making smart choices and improving an already good team. What's going on here?

The Clippers "traded" for Doc Rivers, which was step one. Then they re-signed Chris Paul, which was step two. And then they added necessary pieces like J.J. Redick and Jared Dudley, which strengthens them overall by quite a lot. Losing Eric Bledsoe stings, but the Clippers managed to improve their bench regardless of it.

Grade: A+
