I think there were three members of the Nuggets (K-Mart, JR Smith, and the third escapes me) who all went to play in China. Once these players signed contracts with another organization and the lockout ended the NBA voided these players NBA-contracts and they were all free agents. JR Smith couldn't get out of his Chinese contract until the Chinese season was over without having to pay back some large signing bonus. Once the Chinese season was over he signed as a free agent with NYK. This is also K-Mart wound up on the Clips last season.

This is true, but the guy is still pretty fucking stupid. Or he smokes 60 bong hits a day.

Just look at this:

Yeah, biggskip. You are right. I stand corrected in what I was trying to imply with that fact.

He has been George Karl's nightmare though, although I do want to give him credit for having a great season with the Knicks

Kobe Bryant, mom in court battle

CAMDEN, N.J. -- Kobe Bryant is in a court battle to try to keep his mother from auctioning off mementos from his high school days in Pennsylvania and his early NBA career.

A southern New Jersey auction house is suing for the right to sell the stuff after the NBA star's lawyers wrote the firm to say it could not.

Bryant contends that his mother, Pamela Bryant, doesn't have the right to sell the collectibles, including his Lower Merion High School letters, a 2000 NBA championship ring and hundreds of other items.

Berlin, N.J.-based Goldin Auctions says Bryant told his mother years ago that he didn't want the items.

Legal papers say Pamela Bryant intended to use her $450,000 advance to buy a new home.

being from boston - the leaked news stories and smear campaign on outgoing/fired/traded players/coaches from the boston globe is a tradition that has turned into parody (where the fans will mock the newspaper and the organization trying to pull one on the public).

I have no idea, obviously, but the court records would be publicly available. It doesn't really take a "leak" for information (or allegations, or whatever) about public figures that is disclosed in court filings to make it to the press. News services (I'm using all of these terms loosely, of course) often have people regularly scanning new filings for potential stories, and/or just use automated clipping services and the like.

Yeah, like Kobe Bryant of all people would tell his mom that he didn't want his championship ring. He'd sell his mother before he sold that ring

kobe's parents are the jacksons of basketball. they didn't speak to him for a couple of years because he married a latina. his dad has never gotten over the fact that he will forever be at best a trivia question as a basketball player while his son will be one of the 4 or 5 best of all time. truly nightmarish situation. and you wonder why he's as f*cked up a person as he is.

Ahaha people in Boston are really pissed off about this thing where the Knicks showed up in "funeral attire"

Well considering the bombing is pretty recent, I don't think the Knicks should've worn that

It's pretty classless even without the bombing.

~20 points in 3 minutes for the Celtics?

Really suspect here, David Stern. I'm not saying it's fixed, but I wouldn't be surprised; they're making a killing off this Knicks-Celtics series.
