Funny thing about that is that he probably doesn't feel too much different than that. He truly believes in his system and probably feels that Kobe is irrelevant to the team, what matter more is a good PG and a stretch 4, everyone else feeds off that.

i'm with you bubba. i think either way it's going to be a pretty "ugly" series, unless you like half-court offense and really tough defense. but the lakers over the last week seem like they've rounded into about where they should have been at the all-star break. howard totally beasted on defense last night. stripped harden twice on drives to the bucket in big plays. gasol had his second triple-double. blake was hitting the open j. could happen.

gotta say that i was a d'antoni fan going into this season, but not so much any more. he showed no flexibility as far as adapting to the talent he had. his rotations have been puzzling (at best). and the way he ran his vets into the ground was unforgivable. sure kobe never wanted to come out, but who's the coach? sometimes you have to stand up. Most frustrating is that now that kobe's down, he's stretching the rotation to 8 and 9 players.

The funny thing is that the best team right now for running the D'Antoni offense (from a personnel perspective) is the Knicks lol8[1].gif

Mike D'Antoni Excited To Finally Have Chance To Coach Lakers

SPORTS NEWS IN BRIEF • Sports • NBA Basketball • ISSUE 49•16 • Apr 17, 2013

LOS ANGELES—Heading into the final game of the NBA’s regular season, Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni told reporters Wednesday that he is thrilled to finally have the opportunity to actually coach the Los Angeles Lakers. “We have the right personnel in place now to allow me to install my system of offense, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the roster at the moment,” said D’Antoni, adding that he’s been waiting a long time to be in charge of the Lakers basketball team and couldn’t be more excited to finally get started. “I know it’s late in the season, but I’m just happy that I can do what I was actually brought here to do.” Reached for comment, Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak revealed that D’Antoni will have approximately nine months before the team reevaluates his position as head coach.

Wow, way to shit on your franchise icon

Yeah, its gonna be a slog. I don't know, something about that Houston game gave me a sliver of hope. Maybe it was seeing Pau and Dwight play well together.

Uh, it should probably be pointed out that the article is linked from The Onion.

Man, no love for GSW. No way they only win one game. They play really excellent ball but are a little inconsistent. That has been a lot better lately and Curry is on fire. Thompson has also been playing a much better all around game and getting better as a defensive stopper and adding a post game. Denver lost their #1 go to scorer but has played them really well and are athletic and young but I think GSW takes it to at least 6 or even wins it.

its definitely going to be a fun series to watch. i think gsw is probably more stable than denver. i've been waiting for denver to implode since all-star break. maybe i'll still be waiting, but i don't think so.

Kinda surprised, but I guess not really, that there has been no mention of Rasheed Wallace...

When Sheed came back and stuck his first shot (a post up turnaround), I was so, so happy as a Knicks fan. Off the bench in limited time, even at his age, he could easily put up 10-15 points and grab 6-8 rebounds along with good defense. Then he came out a minute later and now he retires frown.gif This may sound ridiculous to some, but I was shocked that the knicks are able to get the quality of a Quentin Richardson and Barron this late in the season. You get a 3 point shooter and defender and a lively 7 footer than can block shots and rebound to bring off the bench in the playoffs. If these guys give you 5-10 solid minutes off the bench, that could make the difference in a series.

Lakers vs Spurs in the first round. WoW.

Steve will be on suicide watch if the Spurs loses.
