thats the problem with the NBA now (and hopefully the European players will save us from our own stupidity), its all about dunks and 3's, don't play any D, and when was the last time someone was described as a good mid range shooter? This is what Stern has been molding the league into for the last 20 years, it started around the time Jordan really took off in Chicago. Its a smart marketing move, people love to see high flying dunks and 120 point games but the players have less fundamental skills than ever and defense has taken a back seat. The funny thing is, most of these kids look up to Jordan and want to play like him but they only look at his highlight dunks, no one says "I want to be as a good a defensive player as Jordan" or "I want to make my teammates better like jordan" or develop that midrange game that Jordan had. Its all about dunks over people and yeah, you are not supposed to do what you get paid to do and try to block it, because then you'll just be ridiculed
Lebron and Kobe, to me, are the closest that we have to Jordan today but I agree with MJ when he says that LJ would not be as good as he is today if he played in the 80's-90's. I think he stands out so much because everyone else is so fundamentally deficient. How many jams does LJ get just outrunning guys that are coasting back on D? When was the last time you saw a defender forcing a right handed dribbler left? Teams no longer have enforcers, I would love to see these guys today try and pull this embarassing dunk shit on Laimbeer/Thorpe/Mourning/Rodman/McHale etc. That Knight is being ridiculed is sad for the game.
