Shades of Lamar Odom anyone:

Howard said getting some extra rest over the All-Star break helped, as has a new diet he started over the break.

"I'm just making sure I don't eat as much candy and sugar so I can get in good shape," he said. "Back when I was able to play 48 minutes, I could eat anything. But now I can't."

Just how big of a candy lover is he?

"Am I a big candy person? That's an understatement," he joked. "My pantry is full of candy. Skittles just sent me 30 pounds of Skittles. I have a nightstand full of every candy you could think of. Skittles, blow pops, Laffy Taffy, Reese's Pieces, Kit Kats, all types of candy was in the drawer. They had to clear it out."

Well, the trade deadline came and went and nothing happened. Assuming everything stays status quo, I wonder where Howard is going to end up. I can't see Kobe pushing for him to come back (or Buss paying Howard) if they don't make the playoffs or are eliminated early. Is Howard the kind of player that will go to a shit team, just to be the man and get the big paycheck? I think Josh Smith is going to end up in Houston, when I look at their lineup and their financial flexibility, I can see them making him a ridiculous offer. Is CP3 staying with the Clips?

the scary part is that houston could have the cap room to possibly sign both howard and smith. now harden/smith/howard/lin is a core you can win a chip with.

Won't happen, but this deserves a +1 anyway.

i was this radio contest event tonight and some dude in 90 seconds argued why bill russell is better than MJ despite the rings.

bill russell has more rings combined as a coach and player, plus had 29k+ rebounds, was some of his points

I met him once playing golf at a course in the Bay Area. I was lugging my bag into the pro shop to put on my shoes and buy some supplies. He held the door open for me... Not much hubris with Bill Russell.

KNICKS

get completely rolled by Stephen Curry, yet somehow, still manage to win.

Knicks sucked yesterday. Felton has put on some weight since his broken finger, if I had to guess I would say between 10-15 pounds and he is about half a step to slow on every play. He saved the game for them yesterday with the block on curry and the steal of the inbounds but throughout the game he had me missing Toney Douglas. Thats a game the Knicks should have won by 20 points. Knicks don't seem to know how to play big, when Stat/Chandler/Melo are together and they don't have the speed in their starting lineup to play small. Woodson is killing me with his rotations. What was the last game that Copeland played in? The guy gets in a game, plays 20 minutes, scores 20 points and then Woodson does not play him for two weeks. Pergioni needs to be given more minutes when Felton is playing badly. And stop signing 50 year old big men, the end of the Knicks bench is like a MASH tent.

The Onion's title on this latest piece made me cackle:

Jerry Buss Surprisingly Leaves Entire Estate To Former Laker Luke Walton

Quote:
LOS ANGELES—In an unexpected turn of events, sources confirmed Saturday that billionaire Jerry Buss, the widely beloved owner of the Los Angeles Lakers who passed away at the age of 80 last week, has left his entire fortune to the team’s former small forward Luke Walton. “My dear Luke: I leave you everything I have, as you are the sole benefactor of my estate,” read a portion of Buss’ will obtained by reporters, which specified that Walton would inherit over $1.6 billion in money and assets, including ownership of the Lakers, from the late real estate mogul. “You were like a son to me, so I want to ensure that you’re always taken care of and never have to worry about money again. Trading you was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in my life, but I just hope you know how much I always cared about you.” At press time, an emotional Walton was reportedly able to finally quit his low-paying and demeaning job as a bench player on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

UPDATE: Walton has fired the entire Lakers front office, replaced head coach Mike D’Antoni with Phil Jackson, and cut Dwight Howard.

I had the same reaction. I'm not sure why I found it so funny, but I did.
