I think Pau is worth more.

he would've been at the beginning of the year, but right now he sucks (career "very" lows in EVERYTHING). the lakers aren't getting equal value for pau from here on out (especially since he's the odd man out in the dAntoni system -which actually should not be the case at all).

the straight swap for rudy gay is the only real value they can get (because memphis wants to avoid the restrictive 2014 salary cap) the lakers take on gay's salary (roughly the same) for four years while memphis has gasol's salary come off the books in 2013.

thats the reason memphis is dangling "everyone" right now for a trade... not to get better but a pure salary dump. it sucks for memphis fans though.

And he's starting to break down.

Pau should ask for the deal. I think he needs to get out of there. I think its a fair deal. Both teams improve.

I think Pau sucking is mainly due to D12s presence, he has taken his touches and has been playing less min. Not to mention he just isn't being utilized well. Pau hasn't really had a chance to play w/o D12 yet but to average 12/8 isn't bad considering how much D12 stunt the other big mans in his team, look at Gortat and Anderson after they left Orlando.

Maybe Bass as complimentary PF to D12 is better than a scoring/playmaking big like Pau?

But really, Pau has been on the trading blocks for the past 3-4 years now, It's just hard to believe until he is actually wearing another teams jersey.

why would memphis even do this? they already have z-bo and marc. if they trade gay, i can guarantee you it will be for a shooter and draft picks.

and if you guys think the lakers are bad on defense now, just imagine how bad they'd be with bass replacing pau. and bass doesn't spread the floor any more than pau for his offense to outweigh the loss in defense.

if lakers trade pau, they need to get back a shooter who can defend competently.

I think that can be Jeff Green but then again he hasn't excelled after leaving OKC.

Right now, Memphis has inquired about Tyreke Evans for Rudy Gay and I really see reason why the Kings would say no to that deal.

again... memphis is looking to trade a large contract (marc gasol, zebo, gay) to avoid super restrictive salary cap implications starting in 2014.

mephis is looking to trade because they are being cheap bastards to their fans, not because they are trying to improve. its a pure salary dump.

pau gasol would be ok because his contract ends in 2013 right before the new salary cap rules kick in.

let's face it, jeff green isn't any good. and most definitely not worth $27mil for the next 3 years.

and also, would the lakers and celts ever really trade with one another?

and evans is a really bad fit for memphis. much rather they pursue the jared dudley + draft pick route.

i understand the cap restrictions. they could still make a much better trade (see jared dudley + draft pick above.) yes, dudley's on contract for 3 more years, but only for 1/4th of gay's salary. throw in wes johnson's expiring and it all works out.

yeah but thats living in a perfect world where the suns take on more money. its give and take especially now. memphis can't be sellers when they are obviously trying to dump salaries the other teams know it and will act accordingly.

Agree, Jeff Green isn't worth that kind of money but again not many players out there can be compared to what Pau could do outside of maybe Lemarcus Aldridge or Kevin Love?

Honestly, I am not sure what Memphis is thinking. Now that there is a cap limitation they do not think Gay is worth the money they signed him for even though they are winning and having their best season yet? I get the whole don't want to pay tax thing but if the team is winning and drawing fans and more national tv exposure, then why not roll with it?

Tyrekes health is already an issue at such a young career and he is definitely a known scorer than a defender. I think they he can probably adapt his game to Memphis but I am not sure he is as clutch or as much of a finisher Gay is but we shall see. He still has a lot of upside even for a guy who averaged 20/5/5 in his rookie year.

well, it was rumored earlier in the week, so i'd imagine there's some legs behind it.

they don't have to make this exact trade, but i think one similar to that is within reason.

evans has a lot of potential, but the reason why i don't like him for memphis is because the griz are the second worst 3-point shooting team in the league and replacing gay with evans would only make matters worse.

when you have z-bo and gasol, you need shooters so they can operate. in hindsight, i think they would have been better off trading gay last year and re-signing mayo.

There is a lot of truth here via rotoworld:

Per ESPN, "some" NBA executives believe Eric Bledsoe could start on about half of the league's teams.

We don't doubt it. Bledsoe is buried behind Chris Paul and will not be traded, but you can see difference-making ability even during limited playing time. Bledsoe leads the league in steals per 48 minutes and is posting a 8.6/2.7/2.6 line despite averaging just 18.2 minutes. If he ever gets to spread his wings, Bledsoe is going to be a fantasy monster.
