i'm afraid second part might be too optimistic. athleticism is lakers' kryptonite this year.

so doc, any insight on what might be going on with steve nash? talking now about "nerve damage" associated with his leg injury and odd-sounding issues with hamstring.
probably dealing w/ back spasms as per usual for steve nash. the other injuries (hip/hamstring) sound like late regular season "injuries" to keep him rested unit/if the playoffs start for him (kind of like the KG "injury" - where he's most likely just resting his knee but is officially listed as an "ankle injury").

steve has been doing the larry bird in 1992 thing: lying on stomach in lieu of sitting on bench on the sidelines for years now. because of his back spasms.

he can sit just fine on the bench when he's got a nice suit on tounge.gif though.

I hate to say it - but nash is a liability for the lakers with that current starting 5. Kobe/nash are a minus defensively. The way the Lakers are riding kobe makes me worry for him injury wise going into the playoffs (where he'll play even more minutes probably).

not just kobe. metta, pau, there's a bunch of walking wounded they're pushing into large minutes just so they can hold on to No. 8. i'm not so much worried about these playoffs (think they'r epretty much one and done), but a lot of these guys are at the points in their career where a serious injury can mean the end of everything.

JR Smith is so ghetto but at the same time, he obviously listens to his coach, is a good teammate and is relentless on the court. If he averages the 20+ points off the bench in the playoffs, the Knicks will be real tough to beat. There is talk that Wallace might be back soon. Smith, Copeland, Martin, Novak, Wallace is a strong bench and that is assuming that Amare doesn't come back.

I'm pretty sure you mean the Nuggets here ('94 1st round exit, still pains me to this day). He got fucked by the refs in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals the previous year. When he was fired so that they could hire Paul Westphal a few years later, I almost cried.

meh, I figured it would be a tough win at best for the Knicks and probably a loss. Bulls always play the Knicks tough, its a tough matchup for the Knicks, we can't seem to figure them out and they are much more physical than us, particularly without Chandler. I'm looking forward to Sunday's game against Indiana, that is another very tough team for the Knicks to crack but heading into the playoffs I'd like the Knicks to send them a message. I actually would not mind the Knicks losing 2 of the last few games, would much rather head into the playoffs that way then on a 15-16 game winning streak.

Bulls are a bit scary in the playoffs if they can beat the Heat and the Knicks without Rose, Noah and Gibson (although maybe Gibson played in the Heat game, not sure)
I have this odd feeling D Rose is waiting for the playoffs to start and will play. I have no basis for this other than its something he'd do.

It goes without saying that Robinson has been great for the Bulls (and not just during the streak-ending games either). He still makes some questionable calls but he is an effective offensive weapon. His sneaker game is on point too!

Indiana has had the KNicks and Heats number also. No one is talking about Brooklyn, but that is a tough team to match up against over a multi game series. They are big, have probably the only legitimate center in the league and a strong bench. If they face the Bulls in the first round, I would not be surprised if the Nets win. I much prefer the Knicks play the Nets than the Bulls. Heat face similar issues is they have to face Indiana.

Not really surprising as many in this thread had a feeling that this was the case.

Report: Rose all but certain not to return

And to keep in line with the Knicks talk:
Quote:
New York forward Carmelo Anthony offered his take before the Knicks' loss to the Bulls on Thursday night.

"I don't think he should come back," Anthony said. "And that's my opinion."
