Mike D'Antoni strikes again. The Lakers are not going to find much success in 105+ point games (with Kobe scoring 1/3 of that). They need to be a halfcourt, walk the ball up, half court set team, that is their huge advantage with the post up talents they have. D'Antoni is doing what he did with the Knicks, he does not know how to coach a team that does not fit into his system.

the irony is how the knicks basically turned into a mutated version of a D'Antoni system (only with A+ defense). only its the veterans who instinctively know when to slow things down and run plays. plus they still have carmelo to take over. it kind of tickles me when kidd/felton will purposely swing the ball away from carmelo and set up a pick and roll with chandler for a higher percentage shot. people are claiming its woodson whos doing a great job, but its like the veterans all have a secret handshake club going on and are protecting carmelo from himself until they need him to turn into the hulk.

I think this Knicks team is better for D'Antoni than the Lakers. Knicks have no inside game (although allegedly Amar'e spent the summer working with Hakeem), Wallace is the best post up player they have and he now seems to prefer launching 3's. They have a bunch of streaky shooters, a good PG in Felton and can put 5 guys on the floor that basically play like guards. Add to that their awful rebounding and you have to be a team that launches a lot of shots from outside. With Melo, you have this great scorer that is basically unstoppable so when all else fails, give him the ball. Their issue starts when Melo feels that the ball needs to be in his hands for 20 seconds each time down the court or when he is going to go ISO no matter how many people are guarding him. When he is used as just another option on the offense, the Knicks are really good offensively.

lakers have a lot of talent and even with the worse coaching, they are not a team that anyone should want to see in the playoffs. That being said, when your "system" turns Gasol into a useless player, you need to re-examine your system.

the Knicks have shown me enough. I'm a believer this season. although if I were a Knicks fan, I would be concerned with their overreliance on 3-pt shots. and on Melo and JR Smith not going mental.

he needs a tom thibodeaux as a co-coach. actually, I'd love to see him running the bulls offense as an assistant.

Finally got around to watching them against the Thunder, it wasn't even close. The final score made it seem like LA had a chance but there is no way S Nash is going to make them competitive against OKC. That was a blowout.

^^ I dont see jackson wanting to take a team mid-season especially with his system needing time to implement. They'll let him ride for the season.
