Not but the Nets panicked. He was about to sign an offer sheet that would have nixed the Howard trade anyways and they didn't want to let him go because with him gone and with no other better centers in the market, they needed him more than ever because it would have been useless to not have a good center after getting Johnson and signing DWill and Wallace. This is one of those cases we discussed in which non-Superstars get max deals because they simply cannot afford to let them go. At least they can try and trade him for someone after Jan 15 than just leaving for nothing.

lol how did the Nets fuck this up? they were the only team Dwight Howard wanted to go to, and they had talent to offer, draft picks, and cap space. yet somehow they didn't get him and gave a max contract to a 7-footer who can't even get 6 rebounds a game.

the happenstance part? the original/most egrarious recent example of non-superstar getting the max deal.... is Joe Johnson.... $89,000,000 for the next three years. Nets now are saddled with two of the most shitty contracts in the NBA!

post scrip: I have every right to be pissed at the Nets... because I have a partial season ticket package next year (nosebleeds but still).

also I think that the team might actually be fun to watch with wallace, lopez, joe johnson, and d. will... they are like the "Bulls-lite" (when derrick rose was still balling at 100%).

How? They will be nothing like the Bulls. On one hand the Nets would actually be fun to watch, on the other, the Bulls will actually win.

Howard fucked up royally with the Magic. Not as bad as Lebron but not a distant second. And then he hurts his back. Perhaps you could argue he screwed up more since he didnt even sign with a team he was interested in. lol dwit

It's really hard seeing him walk away from a lot of extra money by re-signing with the Lakers not to mention the bonus he gets from endorsements. Adidas already expressed their desire for Howard to go to a big Market (LA or NY) and they would give him a bigger contract when he resigns with them, he could easily see $100+ mil from Adidas alone by just being in those markets.

leading scorer is a shoot first point guard.... have a decent swing man 2/3 that scores around 18pts a game, decent athletic forwards, and 7 foot centers who have wild assed hair that tend to irritate the shit out of the opposing team...

i didn't say they were as good as the bulls (with a healthy rose), i was saying they have similar typecast roles in the starting 5.
