By about the 20th-25th game I am thinking that calls for Woodson/Dolan/Melo's heads will start. Kidd is a good enough PG, he understands the flow of the game and is not going to make a mistake to cost you the game. The problem is that he is not going to take on the Carmelo project of convincing him to take less shots/rebound more. Melo's issue with Lin was that he was not "used to a point guard having the ball so much"?? Cockknocker, he is the point guard, that is is job!! Yours is to move around, get open, create a double team and then pass to a cutter/open man. Woodson is not going to really challenge Carmelo, is easier to keep your job is you are losing with the status quo than if you are losing by shaking things up. Also, woodson does not like Lin, so expect the 39 year old Kidd to log over 20 minutes a game.
At least to compete in the East, the Knicks don't really need any players. They could use a pure shooting guard but other than that, when you look at the talent, they have enough to win. Unfortunately the talent does not meld together. What they really needed was a Riley/Jackson type coach that would read players the riot act (and get them traded) if they did not do what was needed to win. Instead we have the starstruck Dolan, that just wants big "names" on the team to fill seats and Woodson who seems to hold grudges against players and will only last as long as he keeps Melo happy.
