NBA 2012-2013 Season Thread - Page 413
I agree. It is more Kobe's fault. I do think Mike Brown has had some problems. Especially when it comes to communication with management. Why did the Lakers pick up Josh McRoberts and Jason Kapono if Mike Brown was never going to play them? Why didn't they amnesty Luke Walton? Mike Brown has only played him a dozen times.
I don't necessarily think that the problem is Kobe. The problem is that they don't have a point gaurd. Pau and Bynum do not create their own shots. They need someone to get them the ball in their spots or to run the pick-and-roll with them. How many times do you see the offense fail to get the ball into the post and then just dump it out to Kobe to bail them out?
Some of this is due to Mike Brown's offense. The personnel doesn't work in it. Essentially, it was built for the triangle, which is not what they run anymore. That's why I think if the Lakers were to get someone like Sessions, it would fix some problems.
Also, Kapono doesn't play because he's terrible and was an awful signing. He should have been out of the league two years ago.
I think Murphy plays over McRoberts because he can spread the floor better and they desperately need that. Though I think what McRoberts lacks in spacing he makes up for it in all other aspects, so I'd rather see McRoberts play too.
As for Walton, he's not going to get amnestied. He's an expiring contract next year so they'll try to deal him at next year's deadline to some team that's trying to dump salary before the Draconian luxury tax rules kick in during the 2013/14 season. However, almost gauranteed that Artest will be amnestied. Most likely after next season though.
Ummm, from what I remember, Farmar left not traded. He knew he wasn't going to get ahead of Fisher so he went and signed with New Jersey.
you're right. i shouldn't have used the word "traded" since they didn't get anything for him ... declined to renew his contract, encouraging him to leave.
