^this is weird... its seems like Woz is really skewering the Grizz for doing something totally transparent: the owners want to make money and be competitive. They've made it known that they want to dump salary, and on top of that they are using analytics do make up for the difference in loss of talent in the most statistically efficient way possible.
basically the grizzlies are trying to be the tampa bay rays. when the rays do something like drop salary using good player (and sometimes fan favorite) the writers will skew favorable and assume its a good move organization wise.
Woz is usually a guy who favors the analytics and common sense. But this article really reads like a take down piece akin to s Boston globe take down pieces of exiting redsox players/executives.
woz is being a little harsh when the grizz are basically doing things in line with running a sound business strategy.
