Brand averaged 11/7 last year and 15/8 the year before that. It's up to the coach to play his strong points to maximize his players role, Carlisle hasn't done that. Kaman is also an easy double double player but Carlisle has stunted or hasn't given him plays or the role to produce what he can. Mayo is having a breakout year, easily his best and he is a scorer but again Carlisle decision to let him shoot everywhere may have stunted everyone else on the team. Collison seems to struggle because he wasn't given the chance to excel to he is doing about the same he was doing for about 2 years now. Mavs still has Marion, Carter (still good for a bench role) and Beaubois (who is very talented and very good back up but for some reason Carlisle hates playing him). Crowder and Wright who was having career seasons in the beginning of the season where they actually won several games but then he decided to bench them.
I am not saying this team should be competing but they are being blown out of the water when they should be able to keep games closer. This current losing streak has been all by double digits and I know they are all from elite teams but they are just being destroyed out there.
He is a good coach, do not get me wrong, he has led his teams to good records and made the teams very competitive for practically all years but I just can't put him up there with Pop because really at the beginning of last year, everyone were saying the same about the dilapidated Spurs, 3 old injury ridden stars with a bunch of D-Leaguers or an unknown players but Pop led to to an incredible run and they are still staying very competitive this year w/ those 3 stars playing about half of the games this year together.
And have a great and health New Years everyone!
