This is the NBA's 65th season.

Pre-season starts in October 3.
Regular season starts in October 26.

All-Star will be in Los Angeles Staples Center (hopefully I can attend) on February 20th, the 60th All Star event by the NBA.

Predictions?

In the West, the Lakers is still the team to beat, hell they are the tam to beat, period. They just got stronger defensively w/o sacrificing offense.
Oklahoma will get deeper in the playoffs and clinch higher than the 8th spot this year.
Portland might actually go deep if they stay health, big "if".
Nuggets, Suns and Spurs are weaker, CP3 is unhappy in NO.
Dallas is right there but how many times will they choke?
I'm hoping the Clips can make a stride with a healthy Blake and Vinny Del Negro as the new coach. I can see them clinching the 8th spot, but then again I say that almost every year.

For the East, this might be the first time in a very long time that the East just looks so much stronger than the West.
Miami Heat, not much can be said that hasn't been said a million times.
Boston is old but they got better, no more Wallace but got Shaq. They did get Jermaine O'neal, who managed to stay decently healthy last year. The big 3 is still there along with Doc Rivers.
Chicago got Boozer, a big boost to the team. I expect big things if they stay healthy.
NY got Amare, I'm still not convince this team will do much but Amare will benefit from D'Antonis system again. They will have a great team in a year or two for sure.
The Bucks were my underdog of choice last year, sucks that Bogut got hurt, just when he was hitting his potential. Hope to see this team succeed, but will be tough in a stronger East.
Atlanta overpaid for Johnson the way Memphis overpaid for Gay, new coach might get them over the hump. Will be interesting to see.
New Jersey and Washington got strong Rookies. NJ got a threat in their bigs and WAS got a big threat in their smalls. Again, something interesting to see to say the least.
Magic is meh, they are still good, losing Barnes will hurt but they can just move Pietrus to his spot and give JJ Reddick more PT. They'll be in the thick of things in the race to the Finals.

My Finals prediction, Lakers vs. Boston once again. The Heat got a big chance but I haven't seen how the 3 egos will function the whole season. I am also not so sure they can beat a healthy Celtics just yet either.

SF Fantasy Basketball League, who is down?

Let's get this started early, looking for at least 8 players at least. Put your name down if you are willing to participate.

pure nitro. the only way this team could be more volatile is if rasheed was still there.

I'm down for some fantasy nba.

The Wizards are holding training camp near by on campus this should be fun. They're doing a midnight madness for it too. Hopefully they can make some noise in the easy and beat expectations and hold onto the sixth seed.

It looks like the only team in the west that could possibly give the Lakers a run for their money is a healthy Spurs overall a much weaker conference.

Yah, I'd vote for H2H as well. I like it better.

True but those 2 centers are only there until Perkins get back. I was impressed with the Celts last year I must admit, even took the Lakers to 7 games. It might be as strong but they are a cohesive defensive team and if KG stays healthy, they can certainly make a run for the title.

OKC definitely has that spot, although Popovich did say Duncan has slimmed down, even slimmer than last year making him agile and faster (supposedly). Tony Parker stays healthy, they could make a run with OKC too. Lakers just got so much better than last year so it will be difficult to beat that team especially if Bynum is "healthy".

Predictions: Carmelo will get traded before the start of the season. Hopefully to the Knicks.

The Knicks will suck. They will only suck slightly less with Carmello.

Miami will not win the title
Neither will the Lakers

Kevin Durant will be the MVP

In previous years, it seemed like it was forever from the end of the season till basketball season started again. Now it seems hard to believe that the season is only about a month away. With all the action this summer, basketball never really went away. Looks like it's going to be a hell of a season. Can't wait to see the Bulls match up with the Celtics and the Heat.
