Anybody else on here running the Marine Marathon in Arlington/DC on Oct 31? Or has anybody here run it before and is familiar with the course and have any tips or things to look out for?

A friend has run it and is running it again this year. He's not a strong runner and finished in 5 hours. He said it was relatively flat and mildly congested with runners.

I figure that it will be a congested one so I plan on taking it easy across the starting line and letting the herd thin out a bit (since I definitely will not be among the elite runners who get to start right up front). Flat is good! I'm shooting for 3 hours 40 minutes which would be a few minutes faster than my Detroit Marathon time from last year. Anything more than a minute or two faster than that, and I will be extremely happy.
