*Please* do not patronize In-N-Our Burger. They are mindless Christians who print Bible references on their drink cups ("John 3:16"). In addition, they have to be the most absurdly overrated and over-patronized chain in the world. The burgers are entirely overdone pucks of gristly beef. Avoid at all costs. Even lowly Burger King is superior, IMHO.

If you want a great burger in L.A. go to one of the several Gaucho Grill locations. Super fat, tasty hamburgers. Order rare for best results.

If you have kids, perhaps Universal is a *must* stop, but it reeks of tourist dollars, and you won't find any LAsians there. Why not give your kids an authentic, non-tourist L.A. experience and take them to the Natural History Museum or the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits? The Petersen Automotive Museum is just across the street.

Just my 2 cents, and I've lived in L.A. for 12 years now.

Have fun, whatever you decide!

Call the cops!

BTW, do you recognize a difference between "Christians" and "mindless Christians"? If so, what distinguishes the latter?

L.A. Has a vast assortment of excellent places to check out, each with it's own unique flavor. I'm from up north, but am recently relocating down there for work. My favorite places are Santa Monica, Hollywood and the Los Feliz/Silver Lake areas.

My family used to drive me into the city when I was little almost every other week, so it's felt like a second home to me. Be sure to check out all the museums, shopping, art and most of all, the food! Be sure to bring your wallet, because it can get really expensive, especially if you hit some of the really small boutique shops or resturants. Oh, and the nightlife is excellent as well. My best friend had his 23rd birthday at a few lounges and clubs Downtown that I would never have known exists until his GF brought us there. If you head around that area though, be careful, because Downtown gets outright sketchy and dangerous in several parts at night. I blew through skid row a few years back and it was like driving through Resident Evil with all the bums that unabashdly shuffle right through the middle of the streets.

Please, for the love of god, do not buy anything from anyone, unless they made it and all of it's component parts, and harvested the wood, wool, soy beans, beef, etc. themselves, AND their politics are well known to you personally. Doing so might potentially support any number of the opinions and freedoms enjoyed by the citizens of this country. Boycott everything. Please....I implore you.

I have recently returned from LA and wanted to share my thoughts. We stayed in San Diego at the Marriot by the water and were very impressed. All of san Diego seems made for clique or special areas to visit. For example, little italy, of or the gas light district, or the island that is acutally attached to land. Shopping was not the good. went to the outlets north of the city and south of the city. most of it was picked over. In La, most of the outlets were picked over, be it the nordstroms in orange, or the other outlets. The only worthwhile shopping we had were at the polo psr's. They being the desert and the camarrillo polo outlets. Picked up a rlpl sea island t shirt, reg $295, for $38. 75% plus another 20% cashmere made in italy bathrobe, reg 2495, down to less then $200 stuff like that.
