Wouldn't mind one of these :

Will this miniature be built to the quality standards of its larger brethren ?

I recommend a bespoke or MTM umbrella.

This is the Fox Umbrella I use here in Philly. Unfortunately I cannot compare it pictorially to the Brigg umbrella I have, but the Fox is considerably slimmer and more elegant, while the Brigg is better made and uses better materials. Of course the Brigg cost about 2-3 times as much, so it should be nicer.

I have a Paul Stuart, navy pinstripe umbrella. I've had it for 3 years now and it's one of my favorite things I own. I used to loose $10 umbrellas all the time, and trust me that you won't misplace a $200 one. It was a gift from my brother, and a perfect one at that. I love getting or giving decadent items that you'd never consider for yourself or feel guilty about buying.

Nothing wrong with navy. Dark green can be rather smart, too, with more casual outfits.

Brighter ladies' colours and patterns can be used if the maker has the nylons/silks and one is persistent in pairing them with a gentleman's frame. A fine umbrella really makes a dreary day more pleasant.

Fifteen or more years ago, the Wall Street Journal did a shopping feature on men's umbrellas and unequivocally recommended an early version of the Nike WindSheer Golf Umbrella as the finest they tested. It stood up to 75 mph in a wind tunnel! So on their recommendation, I went and bought one at a reasonable enough price. Green and black stripes, sharp-looking (the Nike name and swoosh are small and tasteful on this model), and of course quite large in diameter -- you command the sidewalk with it, and it can easily shield two from any rainstorm.

I have carried this umbrella ever since and it has never let me down -- never once inverted, never ripped. It still has all its original end-tabs intact. It is a miracle of an umbrella -- vastly superior technologically to any other umbrella I have ever owned. I imagine that Nike has only improved it since then. It is one of the best puchases I have ever made.

Thanks for the answers, everyone. I now [will] have a Brigg stick umbrella in maple with a silver collar.

Unfortunately I don't have that kind of money to buy a Briggs umbrella. Are there any good umbrellas for about $50? Or since my budget is set so low, I mind as well go to walmart and buy a cheap black canopy umbrella?

GustBusters can be had for $30 or so, sometimes less.

I have a Burberry (classic pattern) with wooden shaft purchased at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets.

Where can I purchase one? Does GustBusters come with a black canopy and wood-like colour for the handle?

They have a wide variety of models available. Amazon has this large one, among many others:

I have a small one I got from Nordstroms. Living in SoCal I think Ill use it as the locals do. Carry it around on cloudy days with a worried look on my face just in case, and stay home when it acctualy does rain just to be on the safe side.
