Paris. Charvet, Marc guyot, camps de luca, corthay, delos, Gomez and etc. There might also be other nice things to do in Paris. Maybe.

brussels, paris and amsterdam are easy train rides, no need to visit an airport. everything else in europe is, essentially, the same - a flight.

Lisbon or Madrid

not sure how the weather is that late but it is probably still nice. Would suggest a day/half-day trip to either sintra or segovia respectively.

I like a little hotel called Loconda Orseolo.
Ask for a corner room with a double canal view.
It's less than a minute from St. Mark's Square.
It is entered via a quiet private courtyard.

I'm sorry but Venice sucks. I think I can not go there for the next 30 years and not feel the poorer for it.

If you don't like it,
you don't like it.
No apology necessary.

Sorry, been away for a few days, hence the late reply. I was there in October of last year. The weather wasn't too bad- a bit nippy but nothing an overcoat and scarf couldn't take care of. But it wasn't warm for sure, so if that's a consideration, then perhaps something further south is the answer.

Copenhagen/Stockholm maybe? If the warmth isn't a requirement I mean...

I'd live in Copenhagen and besides that City, Barcelona is my favourite in Europe.
It is good weather even in Oct-Nov, it has a lot of cultural facilities and lots of beautiful art mainly constructing arts. There is a nice beach and simply just a nice place to be in.

Valencia , city of the America´s cup and best spanish city of the moment. Clean , low criminality, no people asking for money and impressive architechture.
